Pop-up menu and NoneType is not callable error

Here's a weird one. I wrote the following code which has the quick menu (in the form of an imagemap) pop-up at the bottom of the screen when you move the mouse to the bottom of the screen. That part works fine. Then I tried to add the following behavior: there is a button (the first hotspot) which w...

Aha! I guessed there must be an easy way, I just couldn't find it. Thank you.

Re: disable hide window function

What about adding a key statement to check for the button press to hide the window and then just do nothing?

Code: Select all

key "hide_windows" action []

Re: Hiding text box using a button.

Thank you for the suggestion. However, the button will be hidden as well with the text box. I want to avoid putting an unbidden button on the screen if possible. I think you gave me an idea, however. I'll try adding a transparent full-screen button that shows the window :) Will try that later. edit:...

[Solved] Hiding text box using a button.

This seemed to me something easy, but I'm having no success. What I want is an on-screen button that has the same effect as pressing 'h' or the middle mouse button has, i.e. it hides the text box. Then when the user clicks a button, reveals the same text that was previously displayed. The closest I ...

Re: Day of Vampire Love

It was amusing - the story has some energy at least. Somehow I found the almost complete lack of structure to the sentences and punctuation added to the carefree energy of the piece. Now, for anything longer or more serious, you're going to need to get yourself a good editor. I don't think a proofre...

Not a solution that I would have thought of but should work. Thank you.

Menu customization [solved]

Is there a way to determine if the game menu was entered from the main menu or a currently in-progress game? I want to vary the menu slightly based on this. I tried an if statement using MainMenu() since that is what would control whether a button for returning to the main menu would be active, but ...

Re: How to handle the plot of literature-based games?

That way you can keep the integrity and vision the original author had.....this makes me want to see a 1984 with various endings. There is a contradiction in what you are saying, how do you propose to maintain the intentions of the original author if you change the ending? My point is (and I feel q...

font question and textbutton question

1. Is it possible to change the spacing between letters (for the default font throughout the entire game)

2. What does the _( ... ) around the text for the textbuttons in the menus in screens.rpy do?

Re: How to handle the plot of literature-based games?

In my opinion, it's a waste of your time and creativity to recreate a work that was done previously. It can be very alluring to do an adaption of one of your favorites (i've almost been tempted to do it myself before) but regardless of how good you think it'll turn out, the original is the only real...

Re: [WIP] The Duke's Daughter

It's been rather long since I updated here... it may be indicative of the fact that I need to hire someone to hold a gun to my head and force me to work ^^; Well, I can now say that I have completed the script (except for proofreading) and it didn't come out quite how I thought it would, but I am ve...

This is mega-awesome! I'm a huge VVH fan and I know I saw screen shots posted up of this somewhere before and really wanted to see what it was like at the time. Got to download right now.

Re: My characters fell in love with each other...WHAT DO I D

This may not be useful, but I think that since you're the writer you should decide what happens. You know what the story is really about and what you are trying to accomplish with it, so only you can really know whether the romance aligns with your story or not. Since you're the one with the script ...

Re: Crime Investigation

Auro and Taleweaver were writing their thoughts because they want to see you do well. They weren't trying to be mean... In my opinion, when I read those comments, they sounded mean to me. To me, they appear to have the intention of showing how wrong the game is, rather than helping the creator to i...
