Hello!
I happen to have problems with both my protagonist. I fear that one might have a shallow story compared to the other.
Both have different stories but it overlaps each other, forming the main story route.
I hope to hear some tips about balancing story, thank you!

Re: Coffee Mixer [Friendship][Pixel]
 What is this? I'm intrigued! Anyway... 1) HEAVENS YES! Pixels are a nice way to make me nostalgic and probably more interested especially with games like this. For me, it makes it look more cute! For the limited colour palette, there is no problem with it as long as it doesn't blend ...

Minimizing Project Length
I like to work on multiple projects, especially if I already have experience with it. But for visual novels, it's a whole new world for me. As a beginner, I want to start with a small project, but I tend to make it much longer than intended, and this is not good. I've trimmed down stuff to make it s...

Re: Critique please?
Line art: Avoid using the color black as your line art color. I think this is subjective, however, as black line art can have different effects. But there's something about colored line art that makes it aesthetically pleasing to the eyes, depending on how you use it. Also the thickness of the line ...

Eliminating redundant/insignificant characters
Hello again! I've talked to my sister about my story because she's my idea bouncer, and right now she thinks that I have too many characters. I do not want to eliminate them, if I can merge them into a single character, I'd do it. But if I really need to remove them from the story, then so be it. bu...

♥♥[CLOSED] FREE Anime Sprite Artist ♥♥
Hi! I'm currently looking for projects to partake in, preferably small projects though. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle the burden of big ones, yet. Anyway, I'm only able to draw sprites at the moment. I'm not confident about CGs unless it's a simple one. If you're not looking for a sprite artis...

Re: Create Characters
I suggest you try to find people who would draw for you for free if you don't have a budget. Or use free assets done by some members here in the forum! Anyway, for tools to create 2d characters, the only means I know would be drawing or generators/dress ups/etc... If you plan on drawing, you can loo...

When to use more dialogue/narration?
Hello!
I've been playing/watching a few visual novels I've found online, and in comparing them,
I've noticed that some use more dialogue, while others use more narration.
Now, I believe that both should be balanced, but when exactly should someone use either more?

Re: Guestbook
Hi, I've been here for a while, but I was never active! I'm Fisseha, but I prefer to be called Fish. I'm from the sea, obviously. I'm a lone artist trying to make a visual novel, even if my writing is completely novice! I don't mind invitations to projects though, I'd be happy to help if I'm able to...

Re: Dream Library [Casual][Fantasy?]
Yay for you! You've made a visual novel! As a complete beginner also, I won't be able to give good tips but I'd like to give my opinions:  A game's title always has me pulled in. I really like it, it sounds really magical and I really want to know more. You should add more details about the p...

Dealing with art inconsistency
Hello! I'm here today to ask for tips in dealing with Inconsistencies in art. I've always had this problem about not having a solid art style. Everytime I draw it's just... Different. In this pic, I compiled different drawings of my character. It has a one year gap, but hey, it's still pretty incons...

Pros and Cons of working alone vs with a team
Alright. The title says it all.
I can see the general pros and cons, but maybe I'm just looking at it shallowly, so I'd prefer other people's opinions.
Enlighten me, please.

Is it hard to distinguish if a character is a male or female in my art style? + Tips
Wow, that's a long title, but here I go! I have a lot of trouble in drawing males, and I'm worried that I make them too feminine. I tried to compare headshots, and I'm hella confused with my own drawing. But of course, I can't trust myself soooo here... https://i.imgur.com/aTpMy9I.png I really want ...

Writing an organized script
Hi! It's been long since I've worked on my Visual Novel , and I finally made a decent(?) outline of my story :o However, I'm having trouble in organizing it. Specifically, how am I going to translate it into an organized script, with branching, notes etc. Do you have any methods of writing your scri...
