Unexplored parts of maps

I haven't even thought about trying to make it yet, as I'm still struggling with basic imagemaps, but is it possible to make a map that has unexplored/unrevealed bits to it. These bits would only show up once you have either been there yourself or maybe found scraps of maps in-game.

Re: What is the best way to combine different codes?

Thanks for that. I agree that I am biting off way more than I can chew, and I will make an easier, smaller game. But in flailing around like an infant ( my own description of my efforts ) I hope to discover the best way to do various things which will eventually become the game I want. Basically, if...

Re: Maximum number of hotspots

No. The imagemap can use infinite number of hotspots, 6 is the number of maximum images you can give to define it (6 different states). From the docs: A convenient way of creating a screen, especially for those who think visually, is to create an imagemap. When creating an imagemap, the imagemap st...

Maximum number of hotspots

I read somewhere that six hotspots is the maximum for an imagemap. I want to add a map of the area to my game, but it's going to have a lot more than six places. Is it possible to have a map like this? Do I need another method instead of imagemap? I am not an expert in Ren'Py by anyone's standards, ...

Re: Imagemap not showing up.

This isn't what's causing your issue, but your indentation is not correct, though how you have it will work... https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/label.html Your python sections should be in the label, but you have them on the same level as your labels. But the python sections are working. I can enter ...

What is the best way to combine different codes?

First off, I am not anywhere near being an expert in Ren'Py, so please excuse bad terminology or unclear descriptions. I am trying to make a game where the POV character has a desk where they can access several things. I want to add: a map, a calendar, some method of sending a report to base and ge...

This works for me. Thanks to Sunlit-Dreame r for pointing the way, and inarizushi for the code. Re: Night Filter

I found this did the trick as a night filter: image bg ruin_path_night = im.MatrixColor("img/bg/ruin_path.png", im.matrix.tint(0.5,0.5,0.6) * im.matrix.brightness(-0.2)) That was exactly what I needed. Thank you for this.

Re: Assigning image dependent on player gender choice

I also tried this: image x: choice( gender == "Female"): 'characters/You_F_Speak_Left.png' choice( gender == "Male"): 'characters/You_M_Speak_Left.png' but it throws up this I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred. Compiling ATL code at game/images.rpy:28 NameError: name 'gender' is not define...

Assigning image dependent on player gender choice

For the side image, I'm trying to assign either a female head or a male head, depending on what selection the player made for the character. At this stage I'm only using a single design for each, but I'm getting an error (shown below) My code for gender selection, which is working. menu: 'Male': $ g...

Degrees of darkness

I would like to be able to use the same background artwork for each location but with varying percentages of brightness depending on what time of day it is. With morning, afternoon, evening and night I could create four versions of each background, but that would take up a lot of unnecessary space. ...

Re: Imagemap not showing up.

So what am I doing wrong, or is the code out of date or something similar?[/b] You are not following the model in the cookbook example. In that example you first define the screen. Then your game code starts, and in that code the screen is called. What you are doing is that you define the screen in...
