Any turn based battle engines for Ren'py?

Can you help me find an up to date, pre-made, turn based battle engine for Ren'py, similar to RPG maker's combat system?

Re: How to output formatted text from file to a ren'py screen?

I guess best approach would be writing conversion tool or even conversion function to be used by game itself, what will read RTF/HTML file, parse it and convert it into stream of RenPy text+tags, converting tables and images would be bit harder, but doable. But that is reasonably complex task, so y...

Re: How to output formatted text from file to a ren'py screen?

Your question includes some different things. - I use codecs.open to open/write utf-8 text files to/from renpy. - you can store that data in variables, and use that variables to show their content in renpy. Hi, thanks for the response. I will use codecs.open, that's helpful. - formatting text is an...

Re: Anyone have generic code that can be used for an in game codex?

Thanks! Too bad they didn't show a screenshot of the end result, but I'll still check it out.

If anyone has any other examples please share, thank you.

Anyone have generic code that can be used for an in game codex?

I was hoping someone would have some code laying around for a generic codex window to use in my game. The player presses the C key, and it opens a window. In that window you can browse the definitions of words, preferably with basic categories. When you're done you press C again to close the codex w...

List of basic things to setup notepad++ for ren'py

So far I've done this in notepad++ 1. settings --> language --> check 'tab size 4 replace by space' - This replaces tab character with four spaces or else ren'py project will break, it's very important to do this. 2. settings --> style configurator --> select language python --> add 'rpy' to the 'us...

Re: How do you get Ren'py to use Notepad++ as the editor?

1. in ren'py launcher, on the bottom right, click preferences
2. click text editor and select system editor
3. right click an rpy file in a folder and have windows use notepad++ to open it by default

now when you click scripts.rpy in ren'py launcher it will open the file in notepad++ by default

Here is an example of what I'm looking to do: personX "hello, how are you?" jumpReturn dialogue50 personX "i'm doing great. label dialogue50: personY: "i'm good and you?" instead of just jump, I want to jump and return to the exact line where jumpReturn took place. Result: personX: "hello, how are y...
