I want to send fan mail to a certain japanese game company which game series I really like

I have always wanted to send a very specific fan mail to the company which makes a game series I am a big fan of. The problem is, I don't know Japanese and I don't know anyone who knows. Plus I don't have any company emails for such things. Do you know anyone who would translate it for me for free p...

Advice on image format when there is a lot of stretching

If a game features images that need to be stretched to look different size a lot of times, what image format would you recommend? I know that overly stretching it is not recommended at all but sometimes it's unavoidable (like when something zooms out quickly). Some said that using *webp helps but I ...

Re: Repeated infinite loop in an innocent image declaration line

So, in short, I forgot that deleting rpycs will make old saves inaccessible. Usually they don't get inaccessible, because rpyc will be regenerated from RPY files anyway. Inability to load is likely due to existence of rogue rpyc getting loaded and baked into save file. For the future, if you ever d...

Re: Repeated infinite loop in an innocent image declaration line

Tried to delete all rpyc (NOT rpys) files, but when I tried to load a save to see if this error persits, it gave me another kind of exception: Exception: Couldn't find a place to stop rolling back. Perhaps the script changed in an incompatible way? So, in short, I forgot that deleting rpycs will mak...

Re: Repeated infinite loop in an innocent image declaration line

Did you rename or delete one of your script files recently? No, not recently but then again, this problem is also not recent. I'd say I had something like 3-5 *.rpy script files added (and renamed, obviously, because I don't use default names) before it started bothering me. It definitely didn't ha...

Repeated infinite loop in an innocent image declaration line

This problem has been bothering me for a long while now. After some time the line at the beginning of the game where I declared one of the images started beginning to give me an infinite loop error. What's weird is that that line worked properly for A LONG TIME before it suddenly started bothering m...

How to make saves named with the name of the chapter they belong to

Since sprites are repeatable, I have always wondered how people know to what part of the game their save belongs to. The default nameless system makes everything but immediate playthrough difficult (and for people with bad memory, it makes it difficult right away) How to make saves named with the ch...

Re: How to make a route available after certain number of routes cleared

Sorry for overly bumping this, but I just remembered something: "clearing" is, of course, means that changes that were made during your first playthrough are preserved in your second, and changes that are made in first and second are preserved in third, etc. It will be a pain in the ass to test, hah...

How to make a route available after certain number of routes cleared

Some people ask about how to make a route available after clearing some point in the story and it's very easy but my question is about something more difficult - how to make a route available after a certain NUMBER of routes cleared, regardless of WHAT those routes are? Let's say we have six routes ...

A newbie question about inbuilt themes

Perhaps the answer is obvious but I can't find it. As a beginner I may not understand something very obvious so sorry if it's silly. :) Say, Renpy has inbuilt themes, right? They can be changed with a single click. Yes, they are basically same design but with different colors but still. Can you some...

Re: Do you think there is a market for non-anime visual novels?

Thank you, both enthusiasts and sceptics! Strangely, I think both of your responses have some merit. parttimestorier's response in particular reassured me that a game can be both non anime inspired and successful, although success is relative, of course. Perhaps when it comes to more unusual vns, cr...

Do you think there is a market for non-anime visual novels?

I am not talking about vns that are in no way visually influenced by anime (there are none, because vns are invented in Japan) but just vns that are not obviously catering to otaku audience at first glance. I wish there was a surge of vns inspired, at least partly, by european comics and/or Disney a...
