Re: What common traits of 'contemporary' i.e. 2011 anime sty

I'm actually very fond of '90s anime style - crazy colours, bad anatomy and all - though this is largely nostalgia; I first got into anime in the late '90s/early 2000s, but there were still a lot of series around from the earlier half of the '90s and they were a tremendous influence on me early on. ...

Re: What resolution should the art be done at?

I believe 72dpi is the standard for screen-based work - I was taught that this is how screens display things anyway, so having higher resolution will make no difference, but this may or may not be accurate, and I'm sure technology is changing things anyway. As others have said, if you want to print ...

Re: Petite/loli protagonists in otome games?

The way I see it, there is a difference between an adult woman with a petite bodytype (which I would love to see as an otome game heroine, because I have this bodytype myself) and an adult woman who looks like a child. The proportions are different - children (and lolis and shotas, since they are dr...

Re: IT'S COLLEGE TIME

I'm nearing the end of my first year at the Arts University College at Bournemouth - I'm studying illustration and it's pretty fun. In fact, I just handed in my final project today. Keeping my fingers crossed re: grades.

Re: APH Otome Game?

Weren't they making an official game based on this, or something? I don't know too much about it but I'm sure I've heard about a project. Anyway, I would TOTALLY play a doujin game. I say go and make it. Though Robert is right; this project will involve a lot of writing. I still say it's worth doing...

Re: (WIP) RPG/otome game (im gonna need help on it)

This sounds really interesting and I wish you the best of luck. If you're looking for people to help you on it, you'd probably have a better chance if you can show you've already done work on it - like Abeiramar says, have you finished the script, done any art, etc? That way people will know you're ...

I like it. Though I'm disappointed that eBay isn't an actual bay.

Re: Beginning Artist Looking for Advice

Draw everything. Draw all the time. Draw from life. Not just manga. Not just people, either. Take a mini-sketchbook with you when you go out, if you see something cool, sketch it. If you can, think about taking life drawing classes. They are honestly invaluable when it comes to developing your figur...

Re: My drawings, all comments are appreciated!

I really like your style - very soft and rounded. I really like the face of the character in the first drawing - he seems like a pretty cool, laid back sort of guy. His hands look a bit too small, though. I agree that the legs are off in the last drawing. It looks like right leg (that is, her right ...

Re: Untitled Game : Stalker Boy Gets Chance to Date Dream Gi

QUESTION: In the game, you kind of have the option of pursuing Raven, pursuing Mia, pursuing Kim (eek! I didn't put her up there... she's the librarian, and is a REALLY minor character unless you try super hard), or just being like "Meh! I don't need girls!" and doing the puzzle for yourself. Would...

Re: Color style timeline!

That last polished one would be great for CGs, but I'm wondering if it's maybe a bit to fancy for sprites etc.

All your stuff is looking pretty good so far. I'm looking forward to this game!

Re: In what form do you write?

I write directly into RenPy. I've tried writing in regular script format and then converting it and it was annoying. (Most of my dialogue could be copied and pasted in, but then I had to go back and manually fix the indentation. Grr.) I comment out bits of code that would need art assets I don't hav...

Re: 3d realtime characters for a VN/adventure?

I think the important thing to remember about 3D rendering is that it is a VERY young medium - compared to traditional art, that is. Of course, 2D digital art is also incredibly young, but a lot of traditional 2D techniques can be replicated in digital art. (This is why we get digitally rendered pie...

Re: [POLL] For those outside generic game niches.

What you're talking about is basically adding more adventure game elements to your VN, am I right? I would really enjoy this, as I'm a pretty big fan of adventure games. I would recommend doing some research specifically into adventure games - playing as many as possible, talking to fans of the genr...
