Re: Renpy Controlflow - Ren'py-return after label-call by Python-function

The problem you have is that $testfunction() is a single Ren'Py "statement". And calls return control to the next statement, so any call triggered within your python code will return control flow to the next statement, i.e. "End of Loop" . The from_current argument mentioned by Alex alters this beha...

Re: Saves loading in the wrong place?

What you describe sounds like what you'd expect to occur if you entered a new context at the beginning of (or just before) scene 2. Secondary contexts don't participate in saving, so when creating a save from inside one it ends up being like saving right before the context was entered (but it will s...

Re: Only one of two variables is updated in UDD

When you append to bucket you modify the originally empty list that you declared at the top of your init python block. However, when you assign a new tuple to xy_pos you're actually creating a new xy_pos variable inside the scope of the function. This is known as variable shadowing , where a variabl...

Re: How to force pause "move" transitions once the player reaches a certain line of dialogue?

I believe you can do this by defining an "empty" transform, then applying it to both images right before the interaction: transform stop: pass show city_night at stop show haru at stop noone "Eventually, Haru stops in his tracks." This will arrest the ease that's in progress on both images, which I ...

Re: Trouble with "Show image at xpos"

I believe Position is considered deprecated these days, try using Transform instead which should match your imagebutton much better.

Re: [Bug] Remapping certain keys doesn't have the correct functionality

I think ctrl works because Ren'Py listens for a keyup event on the key assigned to skip , but pad_righttrigger , being an analogue input, doesn't issue a keyup. The keymap docs suggest it might be possible to achieve the behaviour you describe another way, as there exist events for analogue controls...

Re: Make a certain character’s speech text always right align?

Stab in the dark, but I would guess that the text container (rather than the text within that area) is still left aligned, and so only when the first line stretches that container to be the full width does the alignment of the text within it take effect - manifesting as only affecting the second lin...

Re: Make choice disappear after being chosen

For the first part of your question I think you're looking for this: https://www.renpy.org/doc/html/menus.html#menu-set

For the latter part I believe you'd have to investigate making an alteration to the menu screen in screens.rpy.

Re: Display image without breaking up a sentence

It's possible that using a layer specific dissolve will do what you're hoping. It will dissolve only the master layer leaving the screens layer (on which the say screen typically resides) unaffected.

Code: Select all

speaker "sentence 1{nw}"
show image with {'master': dissolve}
extend "sentence 2"

Re: start and stop skipping

So it turns out that in order to make this work the way I think you intend is a bit more complex. Fast skipping is what you want, unfortunately however, that disables recording of rollback data, so rolling back also skips. Not ideal. All is not lost however, as it appears (from my very quick testing...

Re: start and stop skipping

This will skip lines if they were seen before label start: "..." $ config.skipping = True [...] Alex was on the right track, but if I understand correctly, I think swapping out True for 'fast' will give you the behaviour you're looking for. i.e. $ config.skipping = 'fast' P.S. You may want to consi...

Re: Add blur to character callback?

This looked interesting and so decided to take a quick run at it. Be aware that this is just rushed concept code , so there may be problems with it I've not noticed yet, or won't become apparent except in more complex scenarios, most especially the "reset" call, which I'm fairly certain that despite...

Re: Custom mouse cursor in 7.4.x

As Andy said in the first reply, you need to use the new preference. You can do so like this: # This line is an example, and likely doesn't need to change in your code from what was working prior to 7.4. define config.mouse = {'default': [('gui/cursor.png', 1, 1)]} [...] # The new preference to use ...
