Re: [OPEN][GxG] Writer wanted for romance with multiple timelines!

Hey there! I have to say, I'm extremely impressed with your animated spritework and your GUI design. It'd be a pleasure to write for an artist as talented as you are - especially on a GxG story, and even more so on one dealing with loss, grief, and the transformative power of love. Your premise remi...

Re: What do you like in a VN protagonist?

I'm going to take a step back and answer the more general question implied here, that being "what makes a good protagonist?", rather than "what do you, personally, like?" Various people have touched on aspects of it, but here's my attempt to condense it down: - Protagonists shoul...

Re: Balancing narration with dialogue, improving dialogue and banter

And the lines of dialogue should feel unique to the character that speaks them. If you could just replace the name in the dialogue tag, something went wrong. "Voice" is difficult for me, but I've found that the best way for me to prevent my characters from sounding like the same person we...

Re: Balancing narration with dialogue, improving dialogue and banter

"As you probably know, the king is very ill and we are hoping that his daughter - the next in line for the throne - is as good a queen as her mother was. We all loved Queen Emilia, after all, and thought she would be helpful in the drought that we've been having for the last decade." Furth...

Re: Balancing narration with dialogue, improving dialogue and banter

My answer is that meaningful dialogue shifts the balance of power between characters with every word. Not all dialogue is meaningful in that way, but you should always be paying attention to the conflicts between characters. People tend not to talk to each other so much as past each other, and the c...

Re: An Amaranthine Tryst [NaNoRenO 2019][Yuri, Psych Horror, Romance][NSFW]

I'm super into more gay girls making games about gay girls. And... Damn, respect to you for going right at "psychological horror" as your genre from the starting gate. Both for the drawing-from-real-life part and the that's-a-real-writing-challenge part. I'm super looking forwards to seein...

Re: NaNoReno 2019 General Recruitment Thread

I'm looking to build a team for Iron and Thorn, a mature, modern-fantasy VN focussed on a romance between enemy Magical Girls. The setting is dark, but their love has the power to transform it into something brighter - if the MC guides their fragile relationship well, and learns from any mistakes th...

Choice Design: Who, What, Where, When, Why?

Visual novels are distinguished from kinetic novels by the fact that you can choose more than one path through them. That means good choice design is pretty key to the genre. My experiences with interactive fiction have suggested the following about good choices: - They matter. (Something significan...
