Honestly, making your game free might have the opposite effect of attracting more people. There's a TON of free games out there, but most of them are pretty bad, made casually or to test a feature and quickly forgotten under the next wave of free stuff. See if you can continue development while adding elements that make it more enjoyable to develop. As long as you're not forcing yourself to do something you hate you'll get more experience and knowledge which is always good.
