Re: How do you plan out your Visual Novel?

Thank you Katy133 for enlightening me about the workings of VNs. You did use terms at points I have not encountered, I will research to expand my knowledge base. My reply to Mikatiana was to simply compare the ability to show a story and therefore planing a story would likely have many common featur...

A simple image sharing question, I did look for an answer...

I noticed when I inserted an image it wanted a max width of 800pk but I just saw in a post where someone was sharing an image that it was clickable, opened large and I was able to save it. So, there must be a different way to either insert an image or share an image (a preview in the shared image wa...

Re: Multiple choices but a bit unconventional

Is it possible to step through a script? If you see something on a screen and know where that is in the code you may be surprised. Sometimes it is not obvious what code will do. If you are at the point in the displayed part of the story where you need to branch and see where that is in the code you ...

Re: Eliminating redundant/insignificant characters

Some years ago I had a character and decided to write a story about the character. What I discovered was that as the story progressed I had a situation where I needed a character in a scene. So a new character was created. I did not add any characters randomly, I avoided that because it is not neede...

Re: Multiple choices but a bit unconventional

Having a path that excludes a character but that path has a story for other characters and brings everyone back together at the end of a path makes a lot of sense. All you must do is to manage how the characters handle an experience. Also, since you can do the same path with different character comb...

Re: How do you plan out your Visual Novel?

You have hundreds of examples of a visual story on TV. Every cartoon (anime) is really just an animated VN. A VN might be considered just a storyboard in powerpoint where you can have sound and choices. So, create your story, make a storyboard, make it into a VN. It does not matter how good or bad, ...

The more people that you can get involved the better. Focus on what you are best at and find those to help with everything else.

Re: How do you stay motivated to finish?

You will never ever ever finish. Anything you create in software can always be improved, in many ways. Also, you will use one thing as a back story for another thing and you will have to modify the original to accommodate the new creation. Whatever you create in the software will have bugs and flaws...

Re: Being Productive?

If you want to be productive find someone that can talk with you about your creation. Such talk (phone, in person, email) will cause you to think of things that need to be done. many of these things you will make a note to do. Soon you will have a list of stuff that will motivate you to do some of t...

Re: The user's development process documentation?

Opinion, if I may. Good programming techniques should not be constrained by the lack of skill or actual results desired. How are you supporting writing good code and properly documenting (in the code) what is being done? More opinion, do you have a good selection of well-documented code templates th...

A chance to be creative and earn only respect. Page 2

It is a very complicated process. So we want to make a VN combining Code Lyoko and MLB. We have all the videos of both shows (mostly.) Should be simple? No, the problem is that it is nearly impossible to get the characters we want and the backgrounds we want and both in a usable scale. The only way ...

Re: I will now carefully tug at the wizard's sleeve, hoping for some attention.

I am a strong proponent of doing things with a script and having a quick way of previewing your errors. There is wonderful satisfaction learning what to do, doing it, have it work AND pass a code review. Are their people to do code reviews here? Just because it works does not make it good code, but ...
