Re: The Otome Market VS Romance Visual Novels for Guys

Since your username is projectotome its best if you stick with the market that you know, which is otome. Bishoujo games for guys is ridiculously cutthroat... the few successes we see on Steam were basically "John's First Eroge" or "Mark's First Dating Sim" because the creators we...

Re: Dungeon Crawl RPG Framework

I was able to add more depth to the dungeon by using right3, left3, front3 since I felt the dungeon kinda felt wonky without being able to see more than two corridors down. label dungeon: # To start exploring, call or jump to this label # To exit, create an event which has return or jump statement. ...

Is it safe/legal to do this: rename and release unpaid story

Just soliciting feedback and potential pitfalls. Hypothetical scenario: Producer commissions writer to write story to match art paid for by producer. Project stalls; there's been a falling-out. Producer fails to pay writer. Can the writer legally just rename their story and release by themselves or ...

Wish there was a pin or favorite option in message boards so I can flag things for consumption later. Been following you for some time but currently have such a backlog. Do you have a Twitter? (Then again, probably for the best if you don't, or may end up wasting what would otherwise be productive t...

Re: Length of the game determines the price?

Reason why VNs and anime merchandise are priced so high (especially in Japan) is because no matter how much you lower the price, there is a limit on the number of people who would buy it. You could try going mainstream like network television but they do a lot of market research and focus group test...

Re: Length of the game determines the price?

Episodic = $5 no ifs, no buts. The creator has not fully committed to finishing the game, thus I am not fully committed to investing any more than a really expensive starbucks shake. $10 for 1 hour? Yes, if the content is spectacular. Otherwise 2-10 is expected. My best experiences have been $7.99 N...

Re: Making some money with a commercial VN - is it possible?

Lucky Rabbit Reflex was the creator's first game and was commercial quality:

Re: Is it possible to earn $5000 a month making visual novel

Aveyond wasn't luck - I know Amanda well and she first built a big following through quality freeware games and then made the jump to commercial. Just to clarify, I'm not dismissing her success at all. Certainly there was hard work involved. But to become that successful using a generic RTP RPG fan...

Re: Is it possible to earn $5000 a month making visual novel

The successful indie VN/RPG-Maker makers today are one or more of the following: 1.) Their SURVIVAL depended on them earning a living making games full-time, so they naturally put everything they had into their projects. 2.) They were successful in some other endeavor (e.g. fan-translations, or casu...

Re: Legal age for characters

Teens (this includes legal 18s and 19s) are just easier to draw in anime style. No need to worry about wrinkles, fat deposits, and the like. Well, actually I would go with a full MILF/DILF cast personally but there are some sections of the fandom (as well as majority of the fandom in Japan as far as...

Re: Making games in multiple languages

Hi guys, thanks for stopping by. I wonder how many of you think that it's important for a commercial project to have it's content in more than one language. Since I'm a translator myself, I'm trying to find jobs where I can translate English games to Spanish (my first language), but I can't seem to...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

I'm currently conflicted right now. I voiced out a complaint against a professor for sexual harassment that happened 2 years ago. I didn't report it immediately because a lot of things are on the line during that moment. I just learned today that there was a circulating rumor regarding the said fac...

Re: live 2d

Inspired by the Twitter conversation I just had, I think many artists -- especially anime-style artists -- should be prepared to create sprites compatible with the Live2D / Emofuri or other system. This means lots of padding behind the scenes so that you can tilt the sprite's head etc. and not feel ...

Re: Emofuri?

I was wondering why Live2D didn't take off as much despite being more flexible and fully translated, while EmoFuri just been in Twitter/Tumblr rounds and all of a sudden every artist has an animation. This explains it, thank you for this topic. For real-time use, I suppose the program should output ...
