Re: Diverse Character Dilemma

And just like that, we've gone from debatably good intentions to a moral injunction that would make George Orwell roll in his grave. I would rather think of it as "people who complain about it should be the change they want to see" so that there is no collective responsibility. Just that ...

Re: A Massive, Collaborative Visual Novel?

The only regret I have is that I didn't save any logs from when LemmaTV and Dream's Dénouement were worked on because that alone would be a deterrent. Hell, the latter spiked out from the former because of infighting! A lot of the later pages really hurt to read. Same here, I remember another even ...

Re: A Massive, Collaborative Visual Novel?

This has been attempted a few times on this site, I actually don't know any examples of a successful one.

Re: Visual Novel Maker, from the creators of RPG Maker

I'll probably end up getting it cause I'm a sucker...that and I've been working on an RPG in RPG Maker but been trying to use VN style scenes and having some backgrounds would be nice, that and I'm a sucker.

Re: Diverse Character Dilemma

Is it generally preferable to try writing "diverse" characters, even if the writer is unfamiliar with the subject and may potentially "get some things wrong", or is it better to leave "diverse" characters out of the story so that the writer could never possibly "g...

Re: Fanservice: To be or not to be?

As long as you don't use it as your main selling point and have a good product, fanservice might help you get noticed by people who might not check it if they just see "Drama/Comedy, Visual novel, Storybased". I recommend you develop the game free of fanservice and then once you have a go...

Re: Japanese Influence on English Visual Novels

Kinda funny that I see this thread, the most common question I get about my game ends up being "why is it set in America" follwed by "What's happened to the rest of the world". I actually don't see that happen to often with games set in Japan, buuuuuut I'm not really worried abou...

Re: Dark VNs with a clashing art style?

Every time I see the original higuarshi art I just think "BIG...MEATY...CLAWS!!" As for me, I'm very forgiving when it comes to artstyle, there are a few artstyles I really don't like. I do like when the artstyle is a deliberate choice in any game myself, the more thought there is put into...

Re: Derisive criticism of your work online...?

You should ALWAYS look for the positive even if something isn't your cup of tea. That's being respectful and a decent human being (in my humble opinion). If I've said anything negative on this forum about someone's work it is coupled with at least a balancing positive comment. I actually can't agre...

Re: Derisive criticism of your work online...?

Haha, user10 here. I actually agree that many people and communities would benefit from reacting to critique better, but I do consider RotGtIE personally a troll from their other posts that I've seen) Maybe I'm wrong and they're just overly sarcastic here and plain rude in other thread. I personall...

Re: Writing an anime-style VN with Japanese vocabulary?

It's a style choice, some people like honorfics and the like others don't. I'd say go for it if you want to.
