Re: How is it called the one who helps you with SFX and Voice Actors?
It sounds like you're describing two different jobs: a voice director and an audio editor. Voice directors are rather specialized, so you probably won't find anyone with that skillset here. I suggest recruiting someone off of Casting Call Club . I've never used the site to find directors, but I know...

Re: Regarding VN game flow
I'll start with the question: would you, as a player, like to have a way to do everything right in a single playthrough, with good choices and a bit of luck? Or would you be okay with multiple playthroughs to see everything? When a visual novel has multiple endings, I believe that multiple playthro...

Re: Question to those of you who have published on console!
I haven't published to consoles (or published anything at all yet :(), but I thought I would mention that Nintendo actually allows devs to publish their games to the Switch as private individuals. No company or publisher required! https://developer.nintendo.com/faq Xbox has a similar policy under th...

Re: connecting a webcam to an AI application with Ren'py (or python) , is it possible?
Probably not, see this post by PyTom. https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=48593&p=480369&hilit=Camera#p480369 (I seem to recall a more detailed post stating why it was technically infeasible, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly) At this point I think that the better solution i...

I've encountered a bug in the code of the forum itself. Where should I report this?

This is what beta testers are generally for. They've helped improve the writing in my game.thelastsecret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 05, 2022 10:27 amBut of course it's difficult as a creator to tell whether that worked...![]()

Re: Tsundere - heaven or hell?
Unlike many people, I've yet to encounter a character that I disliked simply for being a tsundere. So, I would personally err on the side of "kawaii", but I can certainly see why tsunderes are annoying to other people. If you go too far with their prickliness, your character will appear to be acting...

Re: A simple doubt
This is a good idea, but narration would still pose a bit of an issue. The POV character could appear on screen with a thought bubble, but I think that would be a little clunky.parttimestorier wrote: ↑Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:36 amYou could also consider putting the text in word bubbles like a comic instead of in one static dialogue box!

Re: A simple doubt
Hmm... this is an unusual problem. I can think of two solutions off the top of my head: 1) Place the text box at the top of the screen instead of the bottom. This is pretty unorthodox and would take some adjustment from players, but I don't see anything inherently wrong with it. Here's an example fr...

Re: Music and SFX for adult VN ?
If you're able to fork out a little more cash, I'd like to suggest Storyblocks Audio . You should read their licence before using , but a quick search of the document shows no matches for the words "adult" and "porn". If that doesn't work out for you, you should try specifically searching for Creati...

Re: Chinese Localization for Visual Novels
Interesting question! I'm really curious about Asian localization too. Not just for China, but Japan and Korea as well. I didn't think they were interested in western VNs.

Re: Q. Save and Q. Load: Useful or Redundant?
This is something that varies by individual playstyle, so some people will never use them and some people use them all the time. Some people don't like the interruption of having to go into a save screen and choose a slot and potentially name a save and all that. I've watched people (streaming) pla...

Q. Save and Q. Load: Useful or Redundant?
I've noticed that a number of VNs, even ones not made in Ren'Py, tend to have Quick Save and Quick Load functions. I never really use them though, the regular save and load screens seem perfectly serviceable to me. Is this common amongst players or am I the exception? If my VN omits this feature wil...

Re: Opinions to start a new project
As a fellow creative, I prefer not to tell people what they should or shouldn't write. I think both of the ideas you proposed could work if implemented well. That being said, the wrestling plot would likely have a niche audience compared to the dystopian one. I'll be blunt, I really don't care about...

Re: How long is too long?
Sorry to give a non-answer, but this is 100% subjective. When it comes to length, visual novels share the same rules as books. It simply ends when the story ends. If you visit the Visual Novel Database ( https://vndb.org ) you can find commercial VNs which are 50+ hours long. I would never recommend...
