file is not corrupt and it plays fine by itself. Both the vlc ogv file and the mp4 file that I converted to the ogv.
Thanks so much for trying to help. Anybody else help here? Should I try a different code option like the displayable movie instead of the cutscene?

It's odd. Here is the actual copy of the script:

scene ash open
with fade
$ renpy.movie_cutscene("movies/ashley_reveal.ogv")
"Ashley has been your best female friend since kindergarten.

And the file location is in movies subfolder of game folder, i.e. game/movies/ashley_reveal.ogv

Please help. I simply want to add a video clip in my script. Researched it a ton but still having issues. Error is "cannot find file". Scene image not filling screen help

An 800 x 600 photo is really small in the background. In the setup of the project I picked the 1280 x 720 option. Photos I use for bg or scene in that size are also showing small.
