Re: How can I improve my dialog?
So I ended up figuring out an alternative after talking to some other devs. I may finalize a different font style for inner monologues w/o double quotes and am using a placeholder font style atm for just that. Saw on the Ren'Py documentation I can define prefix and subfixes per character so I ended ...

Re: Am I hurting my VN by NOT using an Anime style?
Thank you for the feedback @gamerbum & @gekiganwing, luckily I am hiring the artist instead of being one so my pool of talent to choose from is easier than if I had specialized in a certain art form / style. Still a few months away from needing to hire an artist, but good data to pull from regar...

Am I hurting my VN by NOT using an Anime style?
I am developing a VN and am handling everything besides character sprites. I plan on publishing and for the story to span across multiple episodes. Most VN's I see on Steam use an Anime art style and the different variations depending on when they were released. I am familiar with how Anime as a sty...

How can I improve my dialog?
Right now I am trying to figure out how to stylize the dialog. See the example below. Any suggestions on if there is a better way to do this or is the alt better overall? IE: How I have it right now centered "General narration" mc "I am now talking" "I am now thinking npc &q...

Re: My artist is being stubborn about software. Suggestions?
A little late in the conversation, but I agree with SinaAzad that it's best not to push your artist friend to change programs. Something that I found was unclear when if your friend knows you'll be editing her files. If an extremely frank conversation hasn't happened on this issue, it needed to hap...

Can't figure out how to use LiveComposite
I have an image that's too tall for my window and for practice am trying to figure out how to have all the LiveComposite sizing settings in another file and then use them in my script. However, I can't seem to figure it out. Does anyone have a video or working sample code that would give me a better...

Menu requires two clicks at first then one
So I have a weird issue, when I load my projects, both ones I am working on and ones that are stock after creating a new project I have to double click the menu item to get them to click. However, after a few minutes I only need one click. This happens if I load a project and wait a few minutes or l...

Re: coding or art first?
As a software engineering student who is pretty good at writing, I'd suggest the coding route. Think of it this way, you could create an amazing game with interactive cutscenes, gameplay etc. with nothing more than stick figures and still have people like it. Unlike Pokemon RBY we don't always have ...

Re: My artist is being stubborn about software. Suggestions?
well, It is not that enjoyable to move from one platform to the other, even if the other one is better. this could actually result in reduced art quality and slower work progression. If she is not interested in trying a new platform I'd suggest to not push it, even if you hire a professional artist...

My artist is being stubborn about software. Suggestions?
Hello everyone, first post and was hoping to get some feedback from experienced devs or people who've had a similar situation. I'm developing a VN and a non-professional artist friend of mine agreed to help by drawing characters and CG scenes. Background: (skip to issue for TL:DR) I like her style a...
