Is it possible to have too many images?

Most of the sprites, backgrounds and CGs in my VN have some simple animation. And with ATL, every frame is an individual image. I don't really mind this but I'm wondering if it could potentially cause problems, with storage or something else, to have hundreds of images in one game.

How much should you pay a musician?

I've decided I want to commission someone to help write music for my VN, but I'm not sure how much would be a good amount. I only have limited funds but at the same time, I'm an artist who knows how it feels to not get paid a reasonable amount for your work. Most of the music I want is just calm amb...

What do you focus on in your second draft?

I've finished the first draft of my VN and now I'm feeling a little lost with what to focus on with my second draft. Besides obvious things like fixing grammar and making things a little more concise.

In general, what would you say makes your second draft better than the first?

Re: Mystery getting stale or repetitive.

I think Mutive's advice sounds good, but also, I don't think repetition in itself is necessarily a bad thing. For instance, the Danganronpa games follow a format that's a little bit like what you're describing: in every chapter, the characters just hang out for a bit, then there's an inevitable mur...

Mystery getting stale or repetitive.

I've been working on a murder mystery VN in which the murderer kills multiple times in the first, let's say, 75% of the story before being discovered. (Think, Persona 4.) And I've run into a problem, the murder happens, the characters go through an investigation and then the plot needs to start up a...

Re: Music with no experience or budget.

I'll try my best to help! :D 1.You'll need a DAW (Digital audio workstation) to make music. Reaper is pretty lightweight and has indefinite trial-version if you're looking for a DAW. 2.Then you'll need some free instruments to load into your DAW. (Even though paid instruments are usually better (du...

Music with no experience or budget.

Basically what the title says. I'm looking for a way to learn to start making music for my VNs. Only problem is that right now I don't have much disposable income or experience with music. Are there good free/cheap resources to help me start out?

Here's a basic, fly-typed example (somewhat based on Danganronpa's system):
Thanks!

When should you charge money for a visual novel?

I've been debating whether or not to charge a small amount, (probably $5) for the visual novel I'm making. The story is about 14 hours with 4 endings. There seems to be good reasons for and against making it cost money. The most obvious one being, actually getting paid for the work I'm putting in. B...

Events that can take place at any point.

Is there a way to create events that can happen at any point in the story? The best example I can think of to explain what I'm talking about are the free time events from Danganronpa. Basically the story stops and you're able to spend time with a character. If your relationship is high enough, you g...

Is there a simpler way to make multiple choices in a row?

I'm currently making a mystery visual novel. At the end of each case the player will have to answer several questions in a row to come to a conclusion on what happened. Here's a simple example of how I'm doing these bits right now. $ correct_answer_points = 0 menu: "What was the murder weapon?&...
