Re: Scrolling Credits
Hi, I've been trying for a while but I cannot work out how/where to apply an outline to the text in the credits. In the default colour it isn't readable on my backgrounds, so I'm thinking of either redoing the backgrounds for it but I'd rather not have to if there's a simple solution. I've tried rea...

Re: Encyclopaedia / Bestiary Framework
My entries in my encyclopaedia use persistent data also, so I'll show you the coding I use that works for me. I can't speak to how that affects the notification coding you are using though. In my coding, I don't have that "locked-true" line. So try this kind of structure for the ending of...

Re: Encyclopaedia / Bestiary Framework
We have been using this for our game but for some reason the unlocks just aren't working. We are following the instructions on the website docs and making sure we use the _persistent part of the unlocks, but for some unknown reason it seemed to work for a while then when I recompiled and deleted per...

Self Voicing and Accessibility - Discussion and Questionnaire
I have been thinking about how to make sure my games are going to be fully accessible, including making good use of the self-voicing and alt function in Ren'py for image description and name pronunciations. I've got a good idea of how to implement these features, but I'm gathering some feedback on w...

Visual Guide to Gui Images
I personally found the documents about the gui a little hard to understand, because I don't have a good head for code. So I put together a spreadsheet for the images used in the default gui and a bit of information about where they appear. This way, without having to go through the code, you should ...

World Building - Template and Discussion
A while ago I shared my template for creating and developing character profiles here https://lemmasoft.renai.us/forums/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=60835 and I though it might be helpful to look at the other side of making notes to start off, and develop, story ideas. World building. NOTE - This is goin...

Re: Preventing Self-Voicing from Activating
This topic is old, but a blind friend of mine wanted me to pass on this comment regarding the assisted voicing feature, as he came across this topic when looking into how well the feature would work for him playing VN games: "Here is the thing. The "garbage" voice they speak of? That ...

Re: World Building - Too much or too little? (Fantasy Genre)
you could try using "cow tools" Would you mind elaborating on that one? First time I've seen the term :) I'm using kanka.io to keep track of a lot of my world details, as well as a variety of badly organised google doc notes (they make sense to me and I know where to look to find what I n...

World Building - Too much or too little? (Fantasy Genre)
So I'm trying to nudge myself back towards writing after a few weeks off and curious on other opinions on how much world building is too much or too little. I've been writing up character backgrounds and development using the format I posted before, but now I'm wondering if I should go further into ...

Re: What do you focus on in your second draft?
One thing that's probably worth doing is to have one or two people who don't know anything about your story read it through to give you some feedback. This will help you know if your story is coming across as you intend it to and if it includes all the right information and pacing to make it work fo...

Re: Pacing and Editing - Advice Wanted
I've so far managed to keep or rewrite the things I liked most, and can always use github to look at my older versions if needed. I think I've made my peace with the scenes now for the most part, just had to get my head around how to approach it all

Re: Pacing and Editing - Advice Wanted
Thanks :) Yeah the feedback I had was partly that I'm moving from plot point to plot point a bit fast (so I've been adding in some more scenes so they're not moving to the next location too fast) and also that it was a little hard to follow. The other main thing was that the protagonist hadn't reall...

Re: Directing Scenes With Too Many (or Too Few) Characters
I'd advise playing through some games that you enjoy that have scenes with a lot of characters. Many successful and popular games do a lot of transitioning to have the speaker(s) on screen when they're talking in a group conversation setting, and mainly only use changes in pose and expression when i...
