.pyc (and I suppose .rpyc ) files are just compiled code that your computer executes. The initial state of your game is store in save files, but those are not executable code. It might be a hassle, but if you really worry about the original authors opinion, you can always have a talk with them, or even send them a (probably censored) preview of how you'll use their work in your game. In most cases it's possible to find their contact info.

I was thinking about using an imagemap!! I just wasn't sure if that was what the best option would be. An alternative to imagemaps in your case is imagebuttons. You can check this tutorial out (but download it from this post ), compare it to imagemaps, and judge which solution is most suited to you...

It seems your trying to pass a boolean variable as a string (your variable is a string, renpy expects a string), but I can't say more than that.
