Thank you, that works even a bit better: there were some minor issues with the other method when combining it with auto highlight (by Daniel Westfall) causing flickering in some special cases. With the define tag_transitions this issue disappeared. Perfect!

If you convert a lossy file like MP3 to another lossy file format, like ogg vorbis, the quality will still suffer. The effect is called generation loss. Yes, of course, that's logical. That would be the last resort. It would be better if I could get the length directly dfrom the file, though. (Moreover, it's more difficult to listen to ogg files on the Mac (need to run VLC every time).)
Btw: For some mp3 files the duration measurement of Ren'Py works.
