Re: Showing in-game values on Save Slots
You may have more luck asking in the coding section over the writing section. By "writing," we mean story, plot, that sort of stuff. Not...code.

Re: Feedback Needed for Game Demo Script (5 pages)
On a quick read-through, dialogue reads rather stilted. For example, Didn't you hear? The king is raising the tax again. My family will barely make it through the winter. Even though the man's saying something that makes him find solace at the bottom of a bottle, he's saying it in such a way that it...

Re: How do you write "complex" characters?
I feel like the complexity of a given character relies, in part, on the situations surrounding it. But to keep a long story short, I believe complexity is achieved when a character's desire and person are opposed. A boy who hates his dad, and wants his dad to be proud of him. A man who wants to put ...

Re: Handling ace representation in a story that includes sex scenes
My personal recommendation is to avoid using any label. Someone mentioned earlier that labels raise specific expectations which can be disappointed, so if you avoid a label, you don't raise expectations. World of difference between introducing a character as "One day, Jack tells his girlfriend ...

Re: Prompt Request for a Community-Driven Visual Novel!
I think this thread is a good exercise in prompting, though I think establishing a good "prompt" would be helpful. In the circles I hang around in, we usually prefer prompts to be vague enough to leave stuff to imagination but specific enough to give handles. Something like, "You're h...

Re: Prompt Request for a Community-Driven Visual Novel!
On Valentine's Day, Henry received an anonymous letter asking him out. He hoped for that cute girl from the other class, he got the guy he can't stand.

Re: Enjoy Yourself Read - Destined: Final Script
Hey Applegate, Thanks for the in-depth reply. I actually really like those edit examples. I think you're the 2nd person to mention the "tabula rasa" of the MC. Do you feel the MCs thoughts after each scene aren't enough to express his character or should it be bolder throughout the dialog...

Re: Enjoy Yourself Read - Destined: Final Script
All right, I'll bite. I went back a bit to skim through your previous two scripts, only read this one in full. Lysandra's character feels rather clichéd: a paralysed gymnast who is cheerful, determined to get back into the game and doesn't want to rely on others unless needed isn't a novel concept. ...

Re: Script feedback, please?
she comes across as too detached and aloof Hello, and welcome to Lemmasoft. I quoted this line in particular as it touches on the feedback I'd give on this piece. However, let's start on a positive note, because there is much to be positive about in the script. The script has a clear direction and ...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
I can't spend more than a few hours in the company of others before wanting to retreat to my room. This is actually quite funny. Many people who I talk to say I'm a pretty outgoing person, because I laugh a lot (funny how that works) and I'm rather talkative. I'm also the sort who'd chat you up ran...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
I have a feeling I've lost a few job opportunities because I don't seem to be someone that prospective employers like enough. (It's not as if I behave poorly during interviews, etc.) I don't know what they think is wrong with me, but I'm neither a bad person nor whatever it is that apparently makes...

It's kind of amusing how Disney classics turned from loveable classics any kid growing up should see to demonic films furthering the patriarchal system and oppressing women.

Re: Why can't I finish my game?
Unfortunately this is not always the case. Isn't that more of an issue of hiring the wrong people then, rather than saying it's the hiring party's job to motivate the freelancers/employees to earn their pay? It's kind of absurd to ask someone for pay for your work, and you need them to motivate you...

Re: Why can't I finish my game?
I'd hazard that if someone's getting paid, it's really part of their job description to be motivated to earn their pay.
