Re: Akita Files [WIP, Background artist needed]

Updated with more art. On account of school starting, I've been moving rather slow lately; Worked on the first day's programming a bit, and I'm starting on day two's script.

Re: Would this work as an Art Style?

Well I was hoping that I'd be able to work it as more than just a comedy VN, since I can't particularly write comedy :P Umineko and Higurashi are my inspiration and I like to think that you can use any art style in a Visual Novel as long as the writing is solid enough... I guess more of a drama/act...

Re: Help! Teens Are Using Digital Drugs to Get High

I remember hearing a rumor that the Lavender Town theme from Pokemon Red and Blue would have some sort of hallucinogenic effect once... Obviously it's false, seeing as how I've heard that music plenty of times myself.

And that's why I loved it. Less cheap scares, more psychological freak-me-out. Plus, as I already mentioned, an ending with true storytelling power.
THIS.

Re: Would this work as an Art Style?

Cute! I'd play a VN with graphics like this. Like Alberte said, though, it pretty much limits your genre to something light and humorous... Well, I could see the graphics drifting into "so-cute-it's-terrifying" quality if you decided to go horror (For instance, the sprites in Higurashi no ...

Re: What is your favortie book to read???

Amazon is your best friend when it comes to shopping for manga. XD I got all of my older series (like A.I. Love You and Sakura Taisen) from Amazon.

Re: Taking requests for backgrounds

Backgrounds?! Requests?!

In that case, I would like to request an abandoned school as viewed from the front--the school was at one point fairly fancy and expensive looking, and the glass of the front door has been broken out. Could you possible do that? ^-^;;

Meet Joe Black and Up are the first to pop out in my head right now. Also, any dog movie.

Re: What do you hate about Japan?

Outside circle means someone outside the groups. Someone in inside circle of one group could be someone in outside circle of other group (even if he's Japanese). Even if Japanese is very social and take care the others, it only truly applies to someone in inside their own circle. I heard that if yo...

Re: Ren'ai-style games for mobile devices

The first two episodes of Higurashi no Naku Koroni were just releashed in English for the iPhone. I've already downloaded both and they're pretty great. I haven't read the Higurashi VN before, so I can't really compare to other platforms, but the interface is pretty simple and easy to work with. Plu...

Favorite Movies!

Well, I figured that since there is a "favorite book" thread, a "favorite video game" thread, and a "favorite anime thread, (The latter two are in the "Anime, Games and Japan" board, mind you). why not add a "favorite movie" thread to the mix? :D I shall ...

Re: What is your favortie book to read???

Ah--I just remembered a manga series I forgot to mention. Chobits. Usually I hate "moe" types of characters, but... Chii. <3 She's too damn cute. I find her awfully relatable as a heroine as well; despite her naivete, Chii's a smart girl, and that sort of thing is rare in manga.

Re: Replay and Multiple Endings for Mystery Games

As for games more close to our heart. Adventure games/Survival horror games tend to play out like this sometimes. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clock_Tower:_The_First_Fear and it's sequels. It's a game where the plot resolves itself, sometimes quickly, sometimes in a very roundabout way ev...

Re: Replay and Multiple Endings for Mystery Games

AI is a complex beast, complex and incredibly not-well understood or solidified. Especially when you give your NPC's the ability to learn, they WILL start doing things you hadn't planned for, and you DO NOT want. Generally why generating the mystery ahead of time was fine, but making the other NPC'...

Re: What is your favortie book to read???

So, do you want to talk about books, novels or manga? Decide then. A book is a book, manga is not a book and novels are a type of books. Equally, light novels are different things. That seems like a rude thing to say. The title simply says "book;" novels, manga, and light novels are all t...
