Just to continue, I've tested with 8.2 and get the same style error.

Do you have a more full error message? I just checked, and Ren'Py doesn't link directly against ntdll.dll (it probably does through other dlls, but not this one). Have you checked on another computer? We've had a lot of people use 8.1 at this point, and haven't heard this. Given how specific it see...
