Re: Jisei (Supernatural, mystery, commercial)

Oh, nice, you got a Gamezebo Review! Even though the rating was average (and as I said in my own review in this threat, at least the "incredible short" criticism has some merit, and there really isn't that much replay value), it's great publicity nonetheless.

Re: RE: Alistair++ - New and extended!

Wow, this game is awesome! If it was a commercial title, I'd probably complain about the length and lack of voiceovers. Actually, the length was a nice change of pace and would have been okay for a commercial game with more characters to go after - because you didn't have to care about setting like ...

Re: Vera Blanc episode 1 "Full Moon" (commercial, mystery)

The memory minigame was okay... I did not enjoy the "chase scene" minigame. The "spot the differences" was challenging, but okay.

Re: Vera Blanc episode 1 "Full Moon" (commercial, mystery)

Okay, so I finished it two days ago... anyway. I enjoyed it. It was longish, not too complicated, and the visuals are great - the "western" comic book style is a nice change from the usual VN-anime/manga-look. I have no clue which ending I got, but it felt like a satisfying conclusion. I k...

Re: Vera Blanc episode 1 "Full Moon" (commercial, mystery)

Where do I re-download? I only have a BTM-Micro DL-Link, and it said it would expire soon. Does that one work for a redownload?

Also, the game is really long!
I'm on Day 6 now, and I figured it would only be a 3-day deal or something...

Re: Vera Blanc episode 1 "Full Moon" (commercial, mystery)

I just started playing it, and I found a rather big plot hole:
Even though I disarmed the bomb, the local news talk about a train accident where an explosion destroyed one compartment. Since I disarmed the bomb, that shouldn't have happened.
I'll review it fully when I'm finished.

I bought it two days ago - however, I didn't play it yet. I guess I'll give it a spin tomorrow.

Re: Date Warp (GxB, commercial - discount details)

I really enjoyed the game... especially the RHPS references. It had the right length, the intro song is insanely catching and could be the intro to an anime series, the graphics are nice. The one thing I would criticize and where I'd agree with the previous poster... is the title. TWICE I've been as...

Re: Jisei (Supernatural, mystery, commercial)

I agree with the last few posts - what I meant is that VNs might be of (potentially huge) interest for the casual gamer market, and might even spark interest in computer games in people who aren't into computer games. I didn't mean to imply that it would be the be-all, end-all of games - the casual ...

Re: Jisei (Supernatural, mystery, commercial)

Hmm no. Casual gamers DON'T like to read at all. I don't see a pure VN as a cash-cow ever. My most selling games aren't pure VNs (story+choices). It might sell a lot if has insane production values but then would still be hard to produce and recoup the costs  Of course, for a casual-gamer-...

Re: Jisei (Supernatural, mystery, commercial)

I think $15 is a great price point. I always expect indy games to be a little pricey comparatively since they are, well, they take a long time to create them in their spare time. Unlike profession game companies, a really skilled group of VN makers can probably only put out a couple of games per ye...

Re: Jisei (Supernatural, mystery, commercial)

Krian, thank you so much for your comments and thoughts. It means a lot that you'd take the time to share with me. Did it really take you less than an hour? I tested the game and played straight through making all the right choices, and it took me about an hour and a half with voices on. Yes, it di...

Re: Jisei (Supernatural, mystery, commercial)

Well, I bought it yesterday night, installed it after work today and finished it a few minutes ago. My feelings are kind of mixed. It's a pretty nice game, the fact that it has voiceovers surprised me... but I finished in in less than an hour, so $15 is kind of expensive. Especially if you consider ...
