Re: Do you create a VN for your or others satisfaction?
I think it's a balance. The bottom reason for writing for me is because it feels great to give life to my "brainchildren"; the characters I've created, the events they experience and the story I want to tell. But I can't write anything without thinking about how another person would react ...

Re: Generic: It's what's for dinner!
I used a similar metaphore once, but anyway: A generic DS is always good, much like a pizza. You can probably get it wrong, but not really. And I like pizzas. And many other people like them, too. Much like a pizza, I always acknowledge a *good* DS, but even the best one is limited by its own stere...

Re: Why visual novel?
Because it's potentially a more captivating experiance compared to reading books. Now, I love books. I've been reading fantasy novels (things like David Eddings and Robert Jordan) since I was about 10 or 11 years old, and I still visit the library regularly for new reading material, be they fantasy ...

One thing that bugs me: The link to the forums seems broken, I think it should be "lemmasoft.renai.us/forums" rather than "lemmasoft.renai.us/forum"

Re: What got you into VN?
Why, hentai of course. More specifically, it was games like True Love, Season of Sakura and Nocturnal Illusion (can't remember in which order I played them) as well as a couple of other JAST games that got me interested initially. Couple of years later, I watched the Fate/Stay Night anime. One thing...

Re: Main menu music
Are you sure the line doesn't start with an #?
IIRC, many of the lines in options.rpy are commented out by default, you have to uncomment it for it to work.

Re: The elusive VN fight scene
Now THAT's how you portray anime-style battles in a VN, folks!monele wrote:There, fight from Ataraxia :

Impressive, I had not seen any of the battles from HA before. Thanks, Monele.

Re: The elusive VN fight scene
Fate/Stay Night has really good action scenes imo... and they are thoroughly described in text since it uses a NVL mode. A lot of other VNs go with only dialogues and never any description... (not fighting VNs though ^^). Anyway... Fate does it with very nice action stills, animated through the VN ...

Re: How do I find the specific line on my script?
OK, I went through it and fixed a few errors in the script, mostly indention mismatches and a couple of cases where you forgot to use a backslash in front a quotation mark, e.g "Then tell me if I"m crazy." ## Produces an error instead of "Then tell me if I\"m crazy." ##...

Re: How do I find the specific line on my script?
Uploading the script file is good idea, there are several members here (myself included) who would be willing to help you out. Getting syntax right can be a major pain in the ass if you're new to programming, not to mention deciphering cryptic error messages... :P Also, I'd really recommend making a...

Re: The Lightbringer
(My guess was that since Catholic priests are not allowed to have sex, such a thing only happens in either confused stories written by foreigners who don't understand that, or Wicked Porn where the priest is breaking his vows. Of course, priests in other sects are allowed to marry, so once you lose...

Re: The Lightbringer
After some quick research on catholicism and other parts of Christianity (research I should have done weeks ago, really), I came to the conclusion that making Istvan a member of a specific Christian church wasn't such a hot idea, after all. So henceforth, he'll just be a "Christian priest"...

The Lightbringer
Back in June, I was casually listening to Dream Theater's "In the Presence of Enemies" when suddenly, a most brilliant idea struck me: "What about a visual novel about a young, modern-day, east-European priest who, using black magic and amateurish swordsmanship, allies with Satan to s...

Re: Make a save force a quit, and delete save upon loading
Also I think rollback should be disabled. Again I must ask how do you do it. I don't know if it is a good idea to disable rollback altogether; the player might always want to go back a few pages to re-read something he missed, or didn't quite grasp the first time. I know I do it all the time, mysel...
