Re: do we need a Ren'py maker with a user-friendly interface

Honestly renpy is THE easiest tool I've ever seen. You need the help of someone who can code ONLY IF you want to do lot of customization, minigame, etc. If you want to make a pure simple VN (and that's what Renpy was built for after all) I doubt you can find something so easy and fast. A full graph...

Re: do we need a Ren'py maker with a user-friendly interface

What I would really suggest to anyone, is to spend a decent amount of time with ren'py. Even though it seems intimidating at first, it's so insanely simple in the long run to create very decent VN's right from the get go. The thing is, all the source scripts are included with the program, so you can...

Re: do we need a Ren'py maker with a user-friendly interface

I personally like the simplicity of ren'py now that I am used to it. Novelty seemed cool at first, but ren'py just seems so much more functional to me.

If you like a more graphical interface, check out Novelty. It is the most similar thing I have seen to what you are describing.

Re: Memories of No One

I thought the presentation was very good. But the dialogue felt kind of all over the place for me, and awkward to read through. Both characters just seemed kind of bi-polar. The font was nice, the music was nice, the art was nice. I don't know if this was placeholder stuff or what, but it was really...

Re: Script critique, please!

Doing some heavy revising of the script. I have started coding, and it is going very well. One thing I have found is that your script is MEANINGLESS until you see it popping up on screen. It is extremely helpful, and discouraging. Reading words on a page is one thing, but it's something entirely dif...

Re: Fighting Game

It would have to all be programmed using Pygame, which means you would have to get pretty intimate with the Python language in order to make it work. Ren'Py allows for complete flexibility, but for anything outside of it's boundaries, you need to be able to program.

Re: Script critique, please!

Glad you liked it. I think Dennis needs to have some sort of crush on Whitney as well, but in the beginning it's nothing more than him noticing her more than anyone else. He doesn't understand why he remembers this girl so much at first, because it could be because of a lot of things: her excessive...

Re: Fourty minutes to eternity

I liked it. The story is interesting.

Stylistically, I found that font very difficult to read, however. Your pictures were excellent, and I can't wait to see full color versions of them down the road.

Overall I think it was pretty decent, made me want to see more.

Re: Script critique, please!

Thanks for that, definitely interesting to see somebody elses perspective using the characters. What I like about your script is that it takes something faily mundane, (sitting in class doing work) and draws these personalities out with it. I was explaining to my wife, I do not want this to be an af...

Re: Script critique, please!

Nice, thanks for the continued critique. Will print out and go over these tommorrow. I'm have a real difficulty in trying to create tension between the two characters while still having them seem to be in a potential relationship with eachother. There has to be chemistry, but there needs to be a lot...

I like the second one better. They are both really good, but the second one is much more vibrant.

Re: Script critique, please!

Direct continuation, attempting to explore Whitney's character more here, getting it in early so people don't yawn and click the tiny X in the corner window before things get interesting. It was all very pointless. We walked side by side, not saying anything, shooting off nervous glances at eachothe...

Re: Script critique, please!

I'm guessing no-one's really brought up the one took-toque typo in the later script? It's nothing major, but it did throw me a moment. Both the first and second draft read through well with John's script, though Dennis's choice of words tends to dip a bit back and forth between stereotypical teen s...

Re: Script critique, please!

I thought all of the scripts read fine as originally written. I don't think changing a word like "hey you" to "yo" will make any different whatsoever in peaking someone's interest more or less. It's about the story and your story seems fine. So instead of recommending wording ch...
