[solved] Long text handling in textbox?

Is there any way to get the textbox, where the text appears, to handle too long texts in some other way than chopping of the text, as it currently seems to do (in at least my VN)? It would be cool if RenPy understood that the text was too long based on the textbox settings, and then automagically co...

Re: Multiplayer in Ren'Py

The important part being that the multiplayer in those instances is outside of the lifetime of the game. Although arguably, going to see a movie at the cinema with friends or a partner is 'multiplayer' in the same sense as eyerouge's multiplayer VN, because an important element is doing it at the s...

Re: Multiplayer in Ren'Py

A visual novel is like a book, right? We don't get how reading could be multiplayer, you can't read a book in competition/cooperation with someone else. /../ I'm sure you can make something like a VN that has a multiple-input capability. I'm just not sure it's a VN anymore. It's more of a graphical...

Re: does this graphics style work?

In my opinion scan lines can be a powerful effect to accentuate certain pivotal scenes. I haven't made a game yet (getting to it) but abusing scan lines much would make it normal and lose impact. I'm leaning towards a similar conclusion: Think I'll only use them while in third person storytelling m...

Re: does this graphics style work?

Yay.. so I'm not han-solo on this, nice. Thanks for all the input. Eventhough I liked it I thought it would be hard to pull off with others, especially since you're used to working/reading with a totally different set of graphics in VN:s. Also interesting that 2(?) reacted on the closeup, something ...

does this graphics style work?

I bring to you... Visua Vérité ;) As I've been experimenting a lot with different photo arrangements in order to come up with something I feel comfortable with myself for a VN I'm at a stage where I'm pretty satisfied with something that would look like this, style wise: 1. Re: [MVN] Problem: Waiting Time

1. You can't ever play a MVN without some kind of waiting times. That is a fact . The question if how we'll handle it in order to make a MVN work. This leads us to what you write, which I this time around hopefully understood. Funny, I thought using an audio book model instead of a written book mod...

Re: Dungeon Master - A multi-user roleplaying experience

Basically, it's my opinion that roleplaying is distracted by dierolls and rules rather than enhanced by them - they're a necessary evil, but the more we can hide the rules from the player and get on with the story part, the better! Yups. Probably one of the main reasons for why a lot of people don'...

Re: Dungeon Master - A multi-user roleplaying experience

Jake: If you'd do it for IRC, would you write it as an eggdrop or script it as a mIRC bot or as a bot for another client? I've thought about doing it in mIRC a couple a years ago since it's very codeable and I love irc :P the map thingie If I'm not totally of, I think there already exists a thingie...

Re: [MVN] Problem: Waiting Time

Mini-game Interrupting the Game The problem isn't finding something to fill the waiting time. The problem is the interruption itself. Any "solution" that depends on somehow filling the waiting time fails to address the actual problem which is that the visual novel is being interrupted. 1....

Re: [MVN] Problem: Waiting Time

Minigames Basically this attempts to solve the problem by giving the player a way to waste time. Well, chances are the player already has a way to waste time. Wasting time isn't the problem. The problem is that the player wants to proactively do something they enjoy (i.e. read a visual novel) inste...

[MVN] Problem: Waiting Time

The Waiting Time Problem It has been suggested, correctly, that waiting time in a Multiplayer Visual Novel will pose a problem since people read in different speed and also take different amount of time when the make selections. This would create time for one of the players where she'd do nothing a...

Re: Multiplayer in Ren'Py

about this thread I recently suggested, in this thread, that it seems as if it has meandered into almost too many directions and that it copes with too many questions at once. While the thread has served us/me as an excellent starting point & brainstorming about pros and cons with multiplayer v...
