Re: drawing for beginners - resources?

The answer to the question; "How do I learn how to draw? :<" is always the same. One word;

Loomis.

Re: Is this normal?

Honestly, something that helped me bypass that range limitation is the 100 faces exercise. Basically you have to get some paper and draw the face of 100 characters. Very quickly, spending under 3 minutes on each one (you can go at it over several days). Buuut there's a few limitations. You must have...

Re: Is this normal?

Erhm.. mate.. it seems to me that you're a bit self-deluded about your style. I don't mean it in a bad way, just as something that has happened to me and.. I'm guessing pretty much anyone, at some point. Because you say you can only draw manly types.. but the guy in your avatar (which I'm assuming y...

Re: Is this normal?

Uhm... I reckon the reason is because you haven't found a real style yet... Style is something that changes very slowly and organically, one never arrives at a "final" style, even 60 year old masters are always refining and changing. So when you find YOUR style you'll be able to see a clea...

Re: Duredhel

@Tsundere Lightning - Yeah, I've done some mechanical designs as part of some commissions. For sprites, I usually charge US$30 per character + US$10-20 per extra pose (depends on how different each pose is from the original) / US$3 per character expression / US$10 per each extra set of clothes. For...

Re: Duredhel

No prob, Fawn, as an artist I'm always happy to help other artists however I can. 1. Yeah, Painter is probably the best program for digital painting there is, in my opinion, since it lets you emulate natural mediums and get a lot of personality in your strokes. It's miles ahead of Sai, which is grea...

Re: Duredhel

Whoa.. it's been a while. Ran into some trouble both computer and travel-wise, I'm back now to post some updates, though. @DizzyStar - I realized you asked the question three months ago, but if you can take classes, take classes mate. They help a lot. Basically the rule with art is to do everything ...

Re: Coloring tutorials?

I did a Painter one ages ago. It's not for the right program but I figure some of the stuff in it might come in handy;

Re: Duredhel

Hey guys, I've been sort of inactive since I got hit with a slew of commissions. Including much of the art for an entire VN AND a Boardgame. Here is some of my newer stuff http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u195/0-Duredhel-0/Commissions/th_comp3.jpg WARNING - click on this next one at your own risk,...

Re: What style should I use?

Aren't these all the same style? :/
Sorry if I appear mean, but try drawing from life for a while, then go back to your own style, see what happens.
