Re: NaNoReno 2020 General Recruitment Thread

Thank you! We have found everyone we need. ➤ Group looking for composers Hi, this year I am working on 2 NaNoRenO projects, very simple VNs with slice-of-life kind of stories and real-life scenarios. Weekend Fever (small) A simple romantic story of two people who find themselves attracted to each ot...

Re: Strengths of Visual Novels as a Medium

Here is my take: If you are primarily a writer who wants to enrich their story with a few visuals here and there, and add some branching, then in my opinion VNs are by far the most fitting use of the medium. I think this is a very common case - it certainly is mine, and I'd even say most of the prol...

Re: Gender and personality of the protagonist bias

I'm one of those people who prefer "playing as myself", so I actually like relatively bland or less defined characters, best if not even shown on screen. In my own VNs I like to often do things differently, treating them more like stories where readers can influence the outcome, but not ne...

Re: How much of the game should be in the demo?

In addition to what's been said already, I find demos valuable for allowing me to look at all the settings and what effect they produce. I bought Shibuya Scramble (without a demo) and was driven to insanity by the inability to set instant text display. Other VNs may have permanently animated cursors...

Hello everyone, I would need someone who can draw sketches of anime type characters to use in a pro wrestling themed visual novel, mostly in dynamic poses (characters preforming moves). They would actually be the main graphics for the VN, I want to make this a sketch-style visual presentation, black...

Re: ADVaNCE Visual Novel Zine 01 now out!

Yay, finished! Thank you so much for featuring my article! And then... Shock! :) The review for The Photographer by Ran S. was as unexpected as it was wonderful to read, especially as it picked up on some of the small nuances I hoped would add to the experience - and Taleweaver I'm sure will be equa...

Helena's Rejection [SuNoFes 2016] [Psychological]

Helena's Rejection is a short visual novel where a writer completes his biography of prominent industry person Helena Kastakitis. However there is something about the book that Helena disagrees with. Thank you Chozogal (art) and paradigmshifty (music) for being a part of the project! You can get the...

chocoberrie >> there is a itch.io page, where you'd submit your VN in the end.

And good luck with your project, especially if it's the first, it's the best feeling to finally have made one :)

Re: Summer Novel Festival [Jul. - Aug. Game Jam]

I am definitely joining this jam, and one or two more people I know on Twitter are working on their VNs, too. It's kind of been a bit quiet around it even though it just started, so I just wanted to encourage more people - if you'd like to join with a small project, it's a very relaxed 2-month thing...

Re: The Buzz - a visual novel podcast

Thanks so much for listening, everyone - it's great to get these small pieces of feedback, it's very motivating for us! We really try to make the topics universal, so that it doesn't really matter if you're "behind", or only listened to those episodes that discuss topics that are relevant ...

Re: StoryDevs — a site for finding VN devs

@Tempus - I would maybe suggest a "producer" skill, or something in the project management area, meaning a person who would manage the team, set up collaboration and see to it that things are running etc. I am occasionally thinking of having a project where all I do is manage and other peo...

Re: The Buzz - a visual novel podcast

Thank you for those kind words! I'd say we have several types of episodes, the very topical ones which themselves can be split into philosophical and practical, and then there are the episodes where it's less structured - and these are needed, too, because those large topical episodes are often exha...
