Examine and inventory codes?
Hello! ^^ I'm trying to make a mystery-solving VN. Similar to Phoenix Wright, but without the courtroom battles. I would like to know how to set up "examine" and inventory systems. "Examine" as in, the player must click a certain place on the background to find a certain item, or...

Re: Tutorial: Easy, quick [forest] backgrounds (Photoshop needed
To make a shadowed forest is quite simple too: - create an image with any color - with any big painting tool fill the half botton of your image (might be in green tone for a forest) - take a small painting tool of any of the 2 colors used and hack the color limit edge in the middle of the image wit...

lordcloudx's method should work. If you want more variation, though, you should draw each tree individually.

Tutorial: Easy, quick [forest] backgrounds (Photoshop needed
Want to create nice, colorful backgrounds featuring meadows or forests? There's a simple trick to doing it. Step 1: Draw the base. Create a new picture, roughly 600 x 600. Make the background any color you want. Then, draw the shape of a tree trunk and it's branches. http://img212.imageshack.us/img2...

Re: Zoideah's Fantasy VN Project! (Working title)
I want Bishonen, strong and non-stereotype girls, and gothloli. Nonstereotypic= Does not care about appearence and does not act "sexy". Please have her rescue a bishonen! Bishonen=Tobi. Fixed! Goth-loli=MEEP Tobi-chan wa Kawaii! I'd be happy if the girl could stand on her own legs. Make h...

Re: Zoideah's Fantasy VN Project! (Working title)
Good design :). Good luck on the two protagonists and 10(!) captureable people though ô_o;;... I like originality myself so I really wouldn't mind varied characters : a cute witch, a brash woodland young man, a mischievous demoness, a very bishie librarian... stuff like that. It'd be neat if I coul...

Re: Character Expressions
A bit late, but... If the character happens to be an extreme personality (extremely boistrous/childish or even, if the situation calls for it, quiet and serious), don't forget that cartoony, simple deformed expressions can be very useful for conveying feelings. Examples like: (T_T) Σ(゚Д゚|||) (>ω<) ...

Re: Zoideah's Fantasy VN Project! (Working title)
...that was a guy? Anyhow, The design's not bad. A little more detail, a little less androgyny (unless that was the point), and maybe tone down the buggy eyes a little and you're good to go. I'm not saying to make him look like Guts from Berserk , just less moe, that's all. Androgyny is indeed the ...

Zoideah's Fantasy VN Project! (Working title)
First of all, let me say that this game isn't even a quarter of the way done yet. What I'm looking for right now is feedback. How do you like my art? What do you think of the characters? What would you like to see in a VN? I'll continue to update this post as I come up with more ideas. You can help ...

Re: Questions about a point system.
All of the labels. Because I have so many characters planned, there will likely be 20~30 paragraphs in between each main story event. Isn't there something like the return command that will take players back to the main story after a character event? I don't quite know how the return command works.

Re: Questions about a point system.
Ah, yes, I've got the menu thing down pat. Where I'm having trouble, however, is when the game needs to recall how many points a particular character has in order to go to a particular scene. What I've been doing is difficult to manage, and I'd like to know if there's another way. I must say, I have...

Questions about a point system.
So far, I haven't been able to find a point system that quite fits what I'm looking for. I need a point system, invisible to the player, that adds points to each "character" every time the player answers something the right way... or the wrong way. I'm not talking about yes or no questions...

Re: Tutorial: Same character, different expressions
Very true. Take a look at Ai Yazawa's work.
