Re: Ren'Py OS 19.04.01 - Released

I'll note that it's not a joke - it's a real thing that is run, and might be useful to someone (mostly mugenjohncel). At the same time, there wasn't any actual interest, so I'm not planning on spending much time to improve it. It's basically just ubuntu, modified so if you pull the plug the drives g...

Re: {w} tag and text shifting during gameplay

This is a known issue, and documented. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Look at adjust_spacing for the solution that lets you pick.

Re: Raspberry Pi Portable VN console build

The raspi 4b - especially the 4GB one, which is only $55 - is rapidly becoming a really nice cheap computer. I suspect that for portable builds like this, or for things like embedded builds at a con, the 4b is an interesting choice.

Ren'Py 7.3.5 Released

I'm happy to announce Ren'Py 7.3.5, the latest in a series of releases that continue to maintain Ren'Py 7.3. This release fixes the compilation of iOS projects, and adds a button that accesses the audio directory to the launcher. As there have been quite a few changes since Ren'Py 7.3 was originally...

Ren'Py 7.3.4 Released

I'm happy to announce Ren'Py 7.3.4, a further patch to Ren'Py 7.3. This fixes two major graphical glitches, and also adds the ability to pass "[prefix_]" to image names everywhere, rather than only in styles. The graphical issues are pretty major and can manifest in reasonable circumstances, so I re...

Re: Why do values change when you open the developer console?

I'll note that Ren'Py does a small rollback twhen it enters the console, which may reset some data.

Looks like there's a big bug in 7.3.4 on windows when toggling fullscreen. I'll get 7.3.4 out ASAP.

Re: MacOS Catalina - Releasing on Steam

My guess is you probably want to take the app out of the dmg, and uploading that to Steam. (Or just using the app that's the intermediate product.)

Re: Ren'Py 7.3.3 Prereleased

It seems that imagemap are slowing down when hovered a little more than usual (although I may be wrong). Can be tested in a tutorial project. v7.3.3.568 I haven't been able to repeat this using the tutorial. It seems to take about the same amount of time that 7.0 took. It's possible this can be imp...

Re: is there an easy way of keeping the class attrebutes after reload?

The one thing you could do would be to stick your entire gallery class into the persistent data. You can do that if you define the class itself in a python early block. Note that you'll have to be very careful about adding things to the instance of the class, since the instance loaded from the persi...

Re: Ren'Py 7.3.3 Prereleased

7.3.3.561) This has a couple of fixes to it. The first is to the "ui elements look blurry" thing there - which really had to do with subpixel positioning not working right, especially when applied to drawable resolution text. Thanks to RicharDann for sending me the log.txt, it was instrumental in me...

Re: Ren'Py 7.3.3 Prereleased

Can someone get me launcher/log.txt for blurry UI elements? That will help me figure out what's going wrong. (Though I already have an idea, I can't repeat the problem here.)

And I'll just point out that for those who back me on Patreon my latest article covers how to notarize Ren'Py apps so they run on macOS Catalina.

Re: MacOS Catalina

Apps need to be notarized under macOS. It's possible to run macOS under a virtual machine, assuming your computer is beefy enoyugh to handle that. (But note that this is against the terms of the macOS license.) You will always need a current Apple Developer account.
