Re: Ren'Py 7.1.0 Prereleased

Can you drop to a command line, and run:

chmod +x /Users/yo/Desktop/renpy-7.1.0-sdk/rapt/project/gradlew

That should fix the problem.

Re: Ren'Py 7.1.0 Prereleased

I'll note that I wouldn't expect that to work, if you actually use ./images l ike that. Use "images/pieces_image/pawn_black.png".

The x86_64 file is of use in the android emulator, and on chromebooks.

Re: Ren'Py 7.1.0 Prereleased

7.1.0.795) Okay, so I decided to switch my focus to getting out a release that supports Android. Since that was a lot of work, I turned 7.0.1 into 7.1.0. The first 7.1.0 is now out, though there will be at least one more prerelease. That being said, I think that this should be better in every way th...

Re: how to use updater for android

You can't. Having an updater like that is against the rules of the various app stores.

Re: Android rollback error

I landed a fix for this recently, should be out in the new prerelease. It happens mostly if you're at the main menu when you suspend the game.

There isn't a way to delete your account. I'd suggest simply not using it.

Re: Translations: translate_font() is not defined?

That function is used in the launcher, only. For a normal game, use a translate python block to set the appropriate gui variables, or a translate style block to change the style.

Re: how can we fix the text in dialogue box that is longer than its size

No, sorry. Ren'Py uses the unicode line breaking algorithm, and it doesn't just randomly guess where breaks can go. You have to tell it, either with the space character or a zero-width space.

Re: how can we fix the text in dialogue box that is longer than its size

Don't do that.

If you want it to break, just put a space where you want the break to be, and Ren'Py will break there.

Re: Why do we need id?

This is correct. Most notably, it's used to assign parameters like who_color, what_size, and window_background to the right displayables. In the case of the what displayable, it also works the other way around - it's used to get the what displayable, so it can do thinks like influence slow text, aut...

Not sure I should keep posting these here - is anyone finding them useful? Anyway, this month's article is Python Tricks #1. The new free article is Layered Image Conversion, which thanks to our sponsors is a great companion to the layered image documentation.
