Re: Windows/Android difference

Apa did right.

It's being tracked at https://github.com/renpy/renpy/issues/1316 , eta in the next day or so, before 6.99.14 prereleases.

Re: Windows/Android difference

I think I know what the problem is. For now a reasonable workaround is probably: label start: # "start" # 3 $devlog.info("start") pause 0 $credits_text_size = credits_textd.size() But this is probably something I should fix. (The issue is that we delay the GUI initialization on Android and iOS to ke...

Re: textbox.png placed differently on phone and tablet - how do I fix this?

What do you have gui.textbox_height set to at the bottom of gui.rpy, where it's set in a way that matters for mobile devices? The mobile device uses a bigger text box, to compensate for the bigger font size required by a physically smaller screen running at the same resolution. Since, in the new GUI...

Re: Notify screen question : how to notify more than once

Sorry, but that's not really a function of the notify screen. It's mostly meant for Ren'Py, showing things like fact that a screenshot is created, one at a time.

If you want to change the behavior, you'll have to make your own screen.

Re: Screenshot cropping?

That should be how you do it. What does your script look like, where it's going wrong?

Re: How to position the Splash Screen and remove skip? [SOLVED]

To answer your first question, you probably want to do: show splash at truecenter with dissolve The truecenter transform centers things vertically and horizontally. I don't understand what the second question is. When the player clicks to skip the splashscreen, that's probably because they've seen i...

Re: Error on running .exe

Note that 6.99.13.1/6.99.14 (whatever I decide to call it) will come with official ssl support. It also seems really weird to mix the updater and Steam together, and the updater doesn't support SSL in any case. Could this be a mod?

Re: Using Ren'Py Code In Python

You can't do it. Python doesn't allow something like a Ren'Py label.

Re: Using Ren'Py Code In Python

You can't do it. It's not part of Python. Python is a structured programming language, which means control tends to occur in things like loops. By contrast, Ren'Py is an unstructured language, which is okay because visual novel programs tend not to loop. A pattern I often use in my own games is. $ l...

If it works for you, go for it. We're pretty close to prereleases.

Just don't expect long-term support for it.

Re: Passing Pre-Interpolated Strings to Text()

Give text the substitute=False argument. That will turn off interpolation.

Re: How to write external files?

Note that this might not work on all platforms. It's actually a really hard problem, since the game's directory might not be writeable on all platforms. (It probably isn't on mac, iOS, and Android.)

Re: Exception on one computer, not on two others

It sounds like you're using different versions of Ren'Py. config.character_id_prefixes was added recently. (In 6.99.13, I think.), so if you're still running an older version of Ren'Py, you won't have it and you'll get a crash like that.

Re: Displaying content of a RevertableSet()

You need to define a __repr__ on item, and have it return a string representing the Item. For example, if an item had a name and price field, you could od: class Item(object): def __init__(self, name, price): self.name = name self.price = price def __repr__(self): return "Item({!r}, {!r})".format(se...
