Re: Is Lemmesoft Dying

Note that the numbers don't really back this up too much. Last week, we had about the same number of users here as this time last year. (This may be due to the Twitter drama.)

Re: A short solution to prevent the game from restarting(Not commerce)

The premise of this is wrong. Ren'Py is designed merge together save files and persistent data from multiple running instances. While this is mostly intended for save-sync, it should also work locally.

[Closed]Ren'Py Patreon Postcards - Artists Needed

I'll totally admit this violates the forum rules, but since it helps support forum hosting, I'll allow it. I'm looking for artists to produce the postcards that go out to supporters of the Ren'Py patreon. These contain pictures of Eileen doing various activities or celebrating various holidays. I of...

Re: help with the last stage of application development on android

In general, Android's security means you can't access folders from another application. This is also why Android (and iOS) aren't suitable platforms for game devlopement.

Re: Pass a parameter to a renpy's Web version game? Get, store, use

You can get the URL as a Python string with: init python: try: import emscripten web_params = emscripten.run_script_string("location.search") except ImportError: web_params = "" And then use web_params to pick apart the string. (It'll be something like '?user=foo&password=not%20really', that is, url...

Re: Web build works on Firefox but not Chrome or Edge

Basically, what happened is that web browsers have changed in a way that means they can't optimize the Python core execution loop. There's a workaround for this in Ren'Py 7.5, so please upgrade to it. (Ren'Py 8.0 doesn't support the web yet, but 8.1 will.)

Re: how do I make blending modes work?

You probably don't want to do that, instead use Transform with additive set to 1.0: image powerplantbg = Composite( (3840, 2160), (0, 0), Transform(ConditionSwitch( "powerlevel==1", "images/bg/power/powerplantlv1.png", "powerlevel==2", "images/bg/power/powerplantlv2.png" ), additive=1.0), (0, 0), "i...

Re: How do I initialize the module first (before init)?

The number goes between init and python, so

Code: Select all

init:
    $ game = Game()

Code: Select all

init -1 python:
    class Game:
        def __init__(self):
        	pass
will work. The blocks are run from low to high, and -999 to 999 are reserved for creators.

Unfortunately, no. This isn't something Ren'Py's text layout engine supports.

Re: Does Renpy 8 work fine with Windows 7 (64-bit)?

Ren'Py 8.0 and 8.1 will work with a fully updated Windows 7. After that, things will become a lot hazier. The problem is that it doesn't look anyone is making a version of Python 3.11 that supports Windows 7, so if we want to move to Python 3.11, support for Windows 7 will need to be dropped. Both M...

Re: About .rpym and .rpymc files

Only .rpymc files are needed - it's exactly like .rpy/.rpyc. The files ending with c contain all the information in the originals (except comment and formatting information), as well as additional information required to load saves.

Take a good look at what's modal, and what's not. That's changed quite a bit.

Re: Set the volume dirrectly into a specific defined audio file

You can leave config.main_menu_music as None, and do:

Code: Select all

label before_main_menu:
         play music_main_menu volume 0.3
         return
The audio. is redundant, as the play statement automatically looks in the audio namespace.
