Re: Android Keyboard Only works English

Are you on 7.1.4? It should be fixed there.

Re: Users can't open the .exe file because it can't find the .py file

I'd suggest launching it through the itch app, which takes care of unpacking and setting things up properly.

Without knowing the game, it's impossible to see if the archive is somehow faulty.

Re: How to change choice menu gui dynamically

7.1.4 has a new feature, menu arguments, that will be perfect for this. First off, you're going to want to change the say screen in your game to read: screen choice(items, button="choice"): style_prefix "choice" vbox: for i in items: textbutton i.caption: action i.action background "gui/button/{}_id...

Re: Disabling clicking when reading a dialogue

No, sorry. Ren'Py intentionally makes it hard to ignore the player's input like this, as when the user clicks, they want to advance through the game.

Re: Ren'Py 7.1.4 Preleased

7.1.4.1266) I've finally updated the prelease. It's been a week, but hopefully I made it worth it. The main change is that there's a new syntax for adding temporary attributes to a character's image for the duration of a line of dialogue. e @vhappy "I'm really happy to tell you about temporary attri...

Re: Teaching Renpy in an Elementary School Coding Class

Hm... First off, call it 'programming', not 'coding'. I dislike the word 'coding' in a didactic context, since it implies what you're doing is enciphering something. That's the exact opposite of what a skilled programmer does, which is to try to write a program in the clearest way possible. The only...

Re: Define a transition based on device variant?

renpy.variant should be defined in an init block, and an init block can run Ren'Py. So you should be able to do: init: if not renpy.variant("small"): # normal devices transform left: xalign 0.0 yalign 1.0 else: # mobile phones transform left: xalign -0.25 yalign 1.0

Re: Suggestion: Default transition/with for layeredimage groups

It does, but transitions don't apply to individual displayables, outside of ATL. They generally apply to layers of the entire screen. I don't think I want to add automatic transitions like these, at least for the time being.

Re: Web Updater - No JSON Object in screen.rpy

init python is too early to call updater.UpdateVersion. If you take that out, does it work?

Re: Suggestion: Default transition/with for layeredimage groups

Basically, this can't be done the way layered images are implemented. The two different configurations of an li are entirely different, as far as Ren'Py concerned - like they would be if they were just separate image files. So there's no way to simply change from one to the other, except as a whole.

Re: Ren'Py Gripes: Picker Attribute Functions

So, I think the problem here is that you're considering the attribute function to be a lot smarter than it actually is. There are basically two sets of attributes in play here. The attribute_function doesn't really affect the attributes that the core of Ren'Py thinks the layeredimage has. Ren'Py mai...

That's not something I can control. The Android tools require JDK 8 - all Ren'Py does is to enforce that requirement. I

Re: Suggestion: Could "say" auto clean up image tags?

I need to think about this, but I like the basic concept. I'm debating if this should go in 7.1.4 or 7.1.5, but I think I really like it. What I'm sort of thinking of this that we'd have a syntax. e @ vhappy "I'm feeling really happy right now." The space after the @-sign is optional, and the @ sign...
