Re: Using Ren'Py, and frustrations... which might be possible to fix?

You should be able to implement the list yourself. For a numeric list, you can write out the numbers by hand, while for an unordered list, U+2022 is your friend: • Item 1 • Item 2 • Item 3 This isn't using HTML, this is just using unicode - you can just copy what I have above into gui.about and it'l...

Re: Trying to make "config.python_callbacks" work for me

There's a kind of chicken-and-egg thing with python callbacks, since the callback will run while Ren'Py is starting up. I suggest using hasattr to fix this: def check_toughness(): if not hasattr(store, "sensi_win"): return ... That's in addition to the global line that Remix mentioned.

Re: audio channel missing from video

image moviefirstdream = Movie(size=(960, 640), xpos=0, ypos=0, xanchor=0, yanchor=0) play moviefirstdream "firstdreamdonothing.webm" loop show movie with dissolve This code is wrong, as you're using three unrelated things. What you want to do is to just use the Play parameter to the movie, and then...

Re: #2.

This has been working for me. I can write:

define gui.about = _("Hello {b}World{/b}")

and it works.

Re: Character-specific Maximum Width for Textbox?

Can you put together a short example of this problem, please? It's kind of hard to figure it out without context. (For example, it's possible the window is being scaled before you take the screenshot.)

Re: Noob question about old savefiles and versions updates

In general, Ren'Py should support loading old save files on new versions of the game and the engine. In practice, it depends on how you change the game. The thing Ren'Py is really bad at is when you refactor a game - if you move code from one file to another, you can have trouble loading because Ren...

Re: How Does Ren'Py Handle Framerate?

However, in games with a lot of input and rapid clicks between screens - i.e. large map interfaces, nested image maps, etc. the responsiveness does NOT feel good. It makes the input feel sluggish. My guess is that a lot of this would have to to do with unpredicted image loading. You can see this by...

Re: Character-specific Maximum Width for Textbox?

It's hard to tell since the images you posted are scaled down. Is the text on the bottom wider than 950 pixels? Since that really shouldn't be possible in Ren'Py - if it is, it's a bug. (The one exception is when Ren'Py can't break the text, as if it's a long single word.)

Yes, if you read the documentation for the new history it should just work.

Re: Ren'Py 6.99.13 Released

I am seeing Ren'Py 7.1.0.0 in my latest install. I take it this is a pre-release? (Would also explain why building it took almost 2 hours compared to the previously sub-hour process) Um... Could you be on the nightly build? It's 7.1 at the moment, since 6.99.13 will turn into 7.0. Just a small ques...

Re: Android Version Building Problem.

I don't have a strong idea at this point. I'd look at your computer, see if there's some sort of antivirus or something like that that is preventing Ren'Py from operating normally.

Re: Ren'Py is not working: Bad CPU in executable

Yeah, the problem is that this is a 32-bit CPU, and I dropped support for 32-bit macs a while ago. It's unfortunate, but as this is a model that was discontinued in November 2006, I'm not going to start building Ren'Py for it.

Can you check out your project's android.txt, in renpy-1.2.3.40-sdk /tmp/projectname? That might have more clues.

Re: Preventing Self-Voicing from Activating

Self-voicing is an accessibility thing. Because I want it to be turned on by people who can't see, I had to bind it to as simple a key as possible. That makes it difficult to turn off, since it's fairly deeply integrated. If you want to do your own voicing, you can - self-voicing won't occur when a ...
