Re: RPG Battle Engine - Alpha 7.5, downloads in first post
Unfortunately using Renpy for action oriented games really isnt feasible. It is possible, but it will require a lot of skill and you will have to sacrifice a lot to load balance. Action games are processor heavy and require a lot of rendering power that Renpy probably can't handle. If you infuse it ...

geraldLevels.AddLevel(30, {'Speed': 2, 'Attack': 5, 'Defence': 3, 'Health':15}) #lv 2 Azure, Is the 30 the XP threshold that the character has to meet to level up? Also, got another question for you Jake. So for my game I plan to do Fire Emblemesque battles with isometric grids and whatnot. In the ...

Re: RPG Battle Engine - Alpha 7.5, downloads in first post
Haha, okay. I was just asking because your comment kind of alluded to there being a benefit to using the reference to the asset file. At least that was my inference

# Note that we're just passing the name of the image defined in assets.rpy; we could equally pass a Displayable instance if we preferred. So I have yet another question for you Jake, sorry for the bombardment of questions. I was wondering what the benefits are of passing the name of the background ...

Strange thread is strange...
I suppose I should put forth my question...Lemma, do you think this strange thread is strange?
Edit: It appears I am late to the party...

Re: RPG Battle Engine - Alpha 7.5, downloads in first post
Oh, I totally realized why you put it in one file :) You are right though, for actual characters it would probably be best to place all their characteristics and stats at the beginning rather than modularize them. Hmmm doing enemies ala Advance Wars seems like a good idea. As for autoscrolling...I c...

Re: RPG Battle Engine - Alpha 7.5, downloads in first post
So I am fiddling with the BattleEngine to create my own custom engine for my game and I just want a reality check here for my peace of mind. So I noticed in the ActiveBattleDemo that when the engine sets up the battle it adds the player character along with his stats in the actual battle setup code....

The Emacs compatibility plugin for Ren'py
I read on the wiki about the available plugin for the text editor Emacs and I am wondering where to put the downloaded file to make it compatible. The instructions aren't that specific and I am a bit confused. Can anyone help me with this?

Re: Mutagen : Journey to Haven's Landing
If you like science fiction, the Foundation series is absolutely wonderful. It is full of philosophy and excellent storytelling. I have always believed that in order to be a good writer you have to read more than you write. Reading inspires you and keeps your bad ideas in check. Also peer review is ...

Re: Mutagen : Journey to Haven's Landing
Sorry, been too busy with the holiday weekend. I will be fleshing this out quite a bit with art and stuff. I recognize that nothing is truly original, but there is no harm in striving for it :) Here are some answers to your questions Conflicts As you can imagine with an apocalypse event, the charact...

Mutagen : Journey to Haven's Landing
I am a part of a four person development company called Timekeeper Games. We are working on our first release called "Mutagen : Journey to Haven's Landing". Mutagen is an SRPG that is set in Post Apocalyptic North America; that's right I said NORTH AMERICA, not just America. One story path...

Re: What factors are important to commercial games?
Simply put, marketing. Social media marketing sells games like hotcakes because we live in an information society now. Create a facebook page for your game, a twitter account, and a blog. Post regularly and get your friends to follow and like you. Also post frequently on related pages such as review...
