Re: Choosing an engine -- extensibility, encryption..?

Trying to buy from the internet will cost you at least 30+ $ due to shipping cost (18$ for software, rest for shipping by Himeya for eg.) and only for a doujin game. Or if you're in England, $18 for software and $40 shipping <_< $3 for each additional item though, thus making 5 games in one order s...

That comic was excellent enough that I wish I had some reason to use their services :3

As it is, I shall settle for adding another avatar to my rotation~

Re: RPA Extractor

Security through obscurity is no security at all. I suspect that you are quoting this from somewhere, without really understanding the context :3 Security through obscurity *is* security, it's just very *low* security -- and in this case "low" also happens to be "enough". The se...

Re: RPA Extractor

I voted no, though not to protect my work -- pretty much everything I do is open source to begin with, I'd just like that to remain my choice~ Also, I can't see a legitimate reason for decompiling -- if you want something in a format that the author didn't give it (ie, you want to look at the source...

Re: Choosing an engine -- extensibility, encryption..?

to rip a movie to distribute it over the 'net you have to get at the encrypted data That's just the sensible way of doing it -- you can still torrent the raw .iso :) I'd quibble the 90% - I doubt that 90% of the players of - say - the Touhou games (reasonably priced, easy for anyone into that kind ...

Re: Choosing an engine -- extensibility, encryption..?

Consider HD-DVD, Blu-Ray, HDCP and so on - each of those has protections designed to prevent people stealing movies Actually, they're there to stop you playing them on players which haven't paid the decryption licence fee -- the encryption is totally irrelevant to piracy, as you can copy encrypted ...

Re: "goto" command

Why would you prefer jumping to a specific line rather than a label? With labels you always jump to the right place, with lines you'd have to update every goto statement every time you added or removed a line, or it'd jump to the wrong place o_O

At this point in my game no characters are visible, so you'll have to deal with them separately using the method explained above; For the animation: image home alarm_clock_anim = Animation( "bg/home/alarm_on.png", 1.0, "bg/home/alarm_off.png", 1.0) image home alarm_clock_off = &q...

Also, bear in mind that all literary and artistic works are copyrighted by default -- it's only free if the person who created it has *specifically* said that it's free.

Multi-platform with graphics hardware support? Wow... being a com sci student I would say that would be groundbreaking awesome. Groundbreaking as in... 1992? Cross-platform accelerated graphics APIs have been around for quite a while :P Even whole cross-platform graphics + sound + input handling + ...

That would be awesome as a tech demo, but for games with plot, rearranging the scenes would mean things need rewriting to account for what has / hasn't happened yet D:

so you can't do (intense) danmaku ~30 mins proof of concept from someone who's never used pygame before: http://shishnet.org/ufufuf/blastwave_poc1.zip (Needs python + pygame installed, arrow keys move and z fires) (Yes, I have been playing too much Touhou. Being far more of a programmer than anything else, I use Graphviz :3 I find that having a simple text file means I'm far less likely to spend hours playing around with the diagram editor and not getting any writing done :P Each one of the titles in the text file is a section of the game, being 20-50...

Re: Recommended Free Sound and Music Resources?

I'm using freesound for 90% of my sound effects, and recording my own for the other 10%~ For music I'm looking into creative commons stuff, magnatune has a great variety of music, but in the 10 minutes I spent searching I couldn't find anything suitable for background music (it all had attention-dra...
