Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?
I've seen art that took 8-30 hours to draw/ink/color. 50 dollars is dirt cheap when you think about that. 50 dollars for 8 hours is less than minimum wage and if the artist is talented enough, usually they took expensive classes that needs to be paid off. Say for that 30 hour masterpiece you were pa...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?
You know what papillon, I completely agree. Ratings are very difficult to implement. I guess I'm just a bit frustrated. There are a lot of amazing OLEVNs out there, but there are a lot more bad ones that feed into a stereotype. It is ridiculous...I really commend each VN maker for putting their hear...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?
I have to be honest...I have done that before. In the past and even today. Reading one bad OLEVN takes the wind out of my sails for reading another one. It helps that I've read a few good ones to remind myself of the quality level, but just today I had two possible OLEVN that I was semi-interested i...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?
I actually meant OLEVN being a young medium, but I guess that is true. VNs are maturing and have developed for some time. But I recognize that this community is still fairly young (Renpy isn't that old, right?) I just really support a ratings/awards season because I feel like that is essential to ch...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?
Ah, I guess I should have been more specific in my last post. I was talking about a previous commercial game that I e-mailed the creator about (my critique was very unfavorable and he/she was not happy to hear about it). I figured it would be better to do that privately than on a forum because it wa...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?
Haha, that is a good thread. They really don't hold back their critiques either, but I think that is the point is being taking seriously. The vicious comments are when people hold your work to a high standard and honestly, I'd rather get that than being patronized. But I think a lot of OLEVN makers ...

Re: You ever worry your work won't be taken seriously?
Hmm...I do feel like there are quite a few amazing OLEVN that challenge a lot of assumptions. But I do think that they are mostly (if not all) commercial. Besides Re:allistar and maybe Shock Coccoon, the OLEVNs that made my jaw drop all cost money. And lets admit it, it's easier for people to play t...

Re: Memoirs of an Angel [Updated w/ short beta]
I liked the first version a lot, but the beta just blew me away
Definitely impressed and looking forward to the completed version of this! Holy cow, I was not expecting to be so impressed.

Re: Flower Shop: Winter In Fairbrook
I admittedly haven't played through the entire game again, but I wanted to see the chibi additions and replayed them. So cute! Unfortunately, I got a few errors for one scene: This always occurred during Trent's snowball scene for me. I'd get the blue screen pop up that says "An exception has o...

Re: Most Underrated VN List
Very true, it is kinda ridiculous how much art quality has over determining response level of a VN. Especially when you consider the hours and hours put into one drawing just to make it look good enough. To get it to the level expected for most VN, it seems like you have to be almost a professional....

Re: Most Anticipated VNs
@gekiganwing: Very true! I am a facebook fan of Zeiva, so I get decent updates but it is hard to find information at times. I guess it's nice in a way, the plot definitely won't be spoiled. Seriously, I have no idea about KS (every year it is the same), but here's hoping. Gah, I totally forgot that ...

Re: Flower Shop: Winter In Fairbrook
Finished the game with all the guys and loved it :D Btw: While I was playing Trent's ending, there was an error message with the game version 1.1: During the dinner at Trent's house and when Natalie is saying "What? No, I don't mind!". In the upper left corner, the words appear that say in...

Most Anticipated VNs
Hey guys! I was busy playing the new Winter Wolves VN that I had been anticipating for a while and that got me thinking about the list of VNs that I've been anticipating playing. I'd like to follow the same format of underrated VN list (which I hope got people interested in some unknown gems) and po...

Re: Flower Shop: Winter In Fairbrook
I just love the writing and art :D So many scenes were adorably cute and I have to say this game is definitely among the top for Winter Wolves. This is how an otome game should be made :) I've only managed to get Ryan's ending, but I can safely say this was worth every cent spent. I have to admit, I...
