Re: Ren'Py 8.0 and Ren'Py 7.5 Released

Thank you so, so, so much for this, PyTom! This represents a staggering amount of work, and I can't thank you enough for it! That said, I was wondering if you planned to move Ren'Py 8 along with versions of Python 3 as time went on, or whether you were planning to stick with Python 3.9. (Python 3.10...

Re: Ren'Py 6.99.10 Released

Congratulations and deepest thanks for this new release!

I should point out that the link to the Pygame_SDL2 source code doesn't work, since it seems to want to find a bz2'd version of that source code. There's a tarred and gzipped version in the proper folder, though.

Wait. You're a bit blind? But you make some of the most beautiful games I've ever seen!

Re: Ren'Py 7 Roadmap?

Ah, thank you. I'm thrilled that you continue to develop Ren'Py's capabilities. Are you disappointed that you won't be designing Ren'Py 7 as a separate beast?

Ren'Py 7 Roadmap?

Forgive me if this question has been asked a lot, but is there some kind of roadmap for Ren'Py 7? I'd like to try to anticipate coming changes in light of a project I'm toying with.

Thanks for any insight you can lend.

Re: Post-6.11 Plans

if you look at the new documentation (http://www.renpy.org/doc/html/), there's a lot more snippets of code in there. Is there any way you could offer a tarred-and-zipped file that contains these documents at the end of a convenient link so that we can reference these offline if we want to? There co...

Re: What makes a story?

What, in your opinion, makes a story shine? Is it the plot, the characters, the prose, or something else? I don't think it's as simple as a single element. What makes for a good story, in my opinion, is the degree to which I feel compelled to think about its implications after I've finished it (or ...

Re: Epilogue?

How do you guys feel about epilogues?? please share X) Honestly? I wish there were more of them. So many movies and TV shows and popular books, when they even bother to have a proper ending, just bring things crashing down at the end of the climax -- almost as if it's not worth taking up people's t...

Re: Science Girls! - an RPG in Ren'Py

I noticed that a new alpha has been uploaded to the website. Unfortunately, the site informs me that I don't have permission to access the file. :( Is anyone else having this problem?

I also noticed that there is a picture on that page that claims to be from Moonlight Walks 2.0. Does this game actually exist (or is it in development)? I know the story and all, but the artwork is fantastic!

Re: Ren'Py 6.7.1 Released

No -- the error was a repeat of the original error message, namely: Unable to access jarfile G:\\Ren\'Py\\renpy-6.7.1/jedit/jedit.jar Removing the apostrophe from the directory name causes jedit to run without complaint. My apologies -- it appears the 7zipped version of 6.7.1 was updated, but the r...

The apostrophe error remains. Was that intentional? (If so, I'll just leave my folder names as they are.)

Removing the apostrophe from the directory name did the trick. Thanks.
