Re: If I Did It

Looking at papillon's experience with commercial releases and quality standards, I like the idea and am curious to see its results. As far as my own projects are concerned though, I'll be working at my own pace without looking at contests. When a VN is completed, I will release it, be there a contes...

Re: About menu placement

Sure, just download my re-release of "GO! Magical Boy" , which uses the tweaked NVL menu. Script source is included. Your settings will vary depending on what you want to achieve. In this case, to the player the menu looks exactly like the dialogue text box. I had to set the following variables in t...

Re: GO! Magical Boy

Hello everyone, After two and a half years, G!MB has now been upgraded from Ren'Py 5.4.4. to 6.8.0. (quite a jump). Thus the present release 006 *should* be compatible with Windows Vista, and at last proper Linux and MacOS versions exist, too. http://www.kolumbus.fi/sapora/RSC/G!MB-6.0-linux-x86.tar...

Re: About menu placement

Wow, thanks a lot for your help! I've experimented around a bit, but noticed it would take too much time, especially since the functionality is already existing in NVL mode. It took me a few days until I realized that tweaking the NVL menu is the least time-consuming way to do it. I've now moved the...

Re: About menu placement

I seem to have the same issue - neither uncommenting layout.button_menu() in options.rpy nor setting button_menu = False works. Running Ren'Py 6.7.1. downloaded today. Edit: To clarify, I attempted to recover the "old school" menu choices, i.e. displayed as text in the dialogue box, like it used to ...

Re: Terminology Thread

We have the terms Kinetic Novel for completely linear story, Visual Novel for story + menus without looping, and various types of Sim games. To me, the term "Visual Novel" does not imply interactivity. Paper novels usually aren't interactive (although they can be). Therefore I've always assumed "Ki...

Re: Website Update (2008-10-09)

That's a good point. My plan was to update G!MB to the latest Ren'Py version and to include its sources at the same time. Actually I wanted to finish my current project first, but then again maybe I should rethink the priorities...

Re: Alternative bishoujo games (just for fun)

Eleven Relations This is too funny! :)) Commercial releases: Seasons of Shakira - Who is that singer under the cherry tree? Another Glass of Summer - How many beers can you manage under the baking sun? Ex is Guilty - Phoenix Wright in a divorce case! Fanta of inferno - The new knock-out soft drink ...

Uh, I can hardly blame you for the delay, since I didn't find any time for music (nor any other hobbies really) for the last three weeks. I'm putting my hopes on the next week-end. Keep it up! :)

Re: Free SFX?

Personally I've been using freesound, which has plenty of good effects. But it will depend on what you're searching for.
