Re: Static sprites vs. dynamic sprites?

Don't forget that Emote is movie maker type while Live2D is SDK type of software... I heard that Live2D is integrated with Unity now. Emofree makes movies. Emote itself is provided as an SDK for various platforms. That's good to hear. Now if only Emote's price is lowered and translated into English...

Re: Static sprites vs. dynamic sprites?

Live2D looks a bit 3D due to its nature while Emote looks much more 2D. But so far Live2D is more dynamic and offer interactivity (I have yet to see Emote used in real time game like Neptune Android/iOS App). While which one looks better, I don't know. In this example, Emote rules... but it's a newe...

Re: Point System

It's right that you're using a persistent variable for things like that. The problem is that when you get the points but haven't saved, you can just load the game to farm points, right? Even worse, if you don't disable rollback feature, player can just rollback and forth. So the solution is more to ...

Re: live 2d

Since someone is going to bring up a Live2D/Emote technology comparison sooner or later, I THINK -- I haven't tried the free cubism so I could be wrong here -- Emofuri is likely going to be more popular with casual artists because of the gentler learning curve. Emofuri's work method goes like this:...

Re: Emofuri?

And the most important thing is Live2D has better result. And it's also can be made interactive (like games or apps).

Re: Emofuri?

I see that this is similar to Live2D. But considering the price (if you go commercial), I would prefer Live2D since it really makes 2D arts looks like 3D (looks more alive and natural).

Re: How many characters in a vn?

No fixed amount. Depending on the story and the author wants. I forgot the title but there is a quite lengthy VN that so good, it took quite a while for me to realize that that VN only have 2 characters; protagonist and the heroine (and just several of faceless, nameless characters) banter each othe...

Re: A "Message"?

2. No, but that if that is the kind of story you want to present. Bad guy wins, good guy is stupid and deserve to be exploited, and so on. Of course if you want to make story for kids, you'd better avoid that kind of story... Unless you call it 'The Giving Tree' http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...

Re: A "Message"?

To summarize, 1) Does a story need a message or a lesson to convey to the reader/watcher/player? 2) Should moral choices be rewarded, while immoral choices given punishment? Thank you very much! 1. Yes, usually. But even no message/lesson is also alright in slife-of-life kind of story. K-On doesn't...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

I've been active while asleep so I haven't been feeling very well rested. I actually walked the dog for 8 minutes or so while totally asleep. And having conversations. What the heckkkk. You can consult it with a doctor. Yes, there are doctors specializing in sleep problems, like snoring, sleep walk...

Re: Super effective writing tips from Pixar

That's a problem of not finishing your story before release, something I am strongly against in the case of most stories ((although I have seen some casual-plot light novels get away with this)). Like LateWhiteRabbit pointed out, you really need the ability to go back and fix everything. Finishing ...

Re: Super effective writing tips from Pixar

Forgot to add: This doesn't mean the original planned ending may not be changed. But it's always a good idea to have the ending planned beforehand. Kenshin (Samurai X) author, Nubohiro Watsuki, have envisioned and planned Kenshin ending way before hand but ended up prolonging the manga (but the endi...

Re: Super effective writing tips from Pixar

"#7: Come up with your ending before you figure out your middle. Seriously. Endings are hard, get yours working up front." I don't believe you should have an ending "locked in" until you've actually reached the ending. Get a general idea of where your story will head, or a "this would be cool, but ...
