Re: MMMORPG
I haven't heard of anyone not playing an MMO because it was taking up too much bandwidth ... so maybe it's safe to assume they use an amount of bandwidth that's within the range of your average user's net speed.

Re: MMMORPG
I played a lot of Ragnarok Online 1 a few years back, and now I play Ragnarok Online 2. You cans see some videos of me playing RO2 here: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=tangos But.. hmm.. RO2 is a koreans-only game, so it might be a little tough for you to play unless you happen to be Korean. RO...

Re: Using Copyright Materials
I do believe the Berne Convention protects Japanese work from being indiscriminately distributed outside of Japan as Japan participates in the Berne Convention along with at least a hundred and fifty other countries. And as an odd suggestion, you may want to look into stuff that is so old that it ha...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^
I feel like I'm making these illustrations a bit too good. Maybe I'll try a thicker pen or a smaller work image..

Re: Colouring Art
I typically do all of my line work on paper at double or triple the required size using a thin pen -- 0.2mm for anything smaller than letter size and narrow tip sharpies (1mm?) for bigger works. Doing line work on the computer's fine and dandy but it always takes an incredibly long time. Plus I can'...

Re: Multiplayer Visual Novel
A long time ago (=over a year ago) I ran a game server for Ragnarok Online 1, and contemplated scripting a multi-player "visual novel" style plot. Ragnarok Online 1 (RO1) is an MMORPG where users battle against monsters for the most part. I wanted to write a script that would set the users into a co...

Re: funky inline strings and random number generators
I changed it to ch1, ch2.. instead of c1, c2, but the same problem is happening.

Good morning, I'm <ch1.name unbound>!

funky inline strings and random number generators
I actually have two questions in this post. One involves using strings, the other one is about randomizing the order of things... First question: I played around a bit with Ren'Py today and got some puzzling results. In my test game, I have people's names defined in init like so: * changed it to ch1...

Re: Question about menus
If you're talking about the first image that comes up with the "Start Game" menu, then what you want is inside options.rpy in your game's directory. Look for this bit: ## The background of the main menu. This can be a color ## beginning with '#', or an image filename. The latter ## should take up th...

Re: Have a question ?
A post unrelated to the first post, but: I've only been around for a few days, but judging by the amount of traffic on the board, I don't think having a separate FAQ is critical to Ren'Py's community. It'd be a cool thing to have around to document commonly asked questions (I, for one, would love to...

Re: character images overlap by default (?)
Wow... so I guess I should stick on a "Hide" comment after every image? Good thing there's a replace function in the editor. In the above dialog, different characters are taking turns talking. When one character is done talking, the next character shows up, and so forth... oh, and: I'd also like to ...
