When I use ren'py the text has a tendency to black out. Like this: Doesn't always happen so I don't think it has anything to do with the fonts, and it happens on every game. Any ideas how to fix it?

you should probably post pictures of your work, and a description of the projects. Not to mention the amount of work in each field.

besides the height and color they look like the same character with different clothes. There are tons of different face, eye, mouth, etc and each character should be unique. Besides that I think they look pretty good.

When I can't think of anything else to write I grab an old fashioned pen and paper. Sometimes, for me, a change of medium will get the creative juices flowing. If that doesn't work I take my notepad and write in a bubble bath, if I can't write I can at least relax

You'd be better off learning how to do it yourself correctly. It looks like you shade/highlight with the burn/dodge tool and I don't recommend it.
