I would like to note that I have (since my previous comment) received a refund of the money I'd put down.
Were you given any reasonable excuses?

I know sometimes, people take more commissions than they can handle at once and burn out briefly. I experienced this once myself.

Re: Displaying an image problem: it worked fine before, now it will not..

In the full post editor, the fifth button from left directly to the top of the text window is for code. Or you can write

around your code. If you want to show a screen without waiting for the player to interact with it, you can "show" the screen instead of "call". "Call screen" pauses...

Re: Displaying an image problem: it worked fine before, now it will not..

Please put your code in "code" formatting instead of "quote" so the indentations are displayed.

A wild guess: The screen char_choice1 is called but you are waiting for the item to be shown, which doesn't happen because the script does not advance during the screen call.

Re: how to use the label twice

menu: nav "selection" "Literal translation": if route == 1: jump literal elif route == 2: jump literal2 "Summarize": if route == 1: jump summarize elif route == 2: jump summarize2 Not much less to write than with two menus.

Re: how to use the label twice

I'm not sure I understand your problem. What's keeping you from jumping to a label from more than one point in the game? If a label is used in more than one place, you better "call" the label and after you are finished there you can return to where you have been with "return": label start: "The game...

The repulsor example on the page Lord Hisu linked is very close to what you want to do. Of course, you have to change how the sprites move...

Re: NOOB HELP - When do you actually use a call or show for screen

A screen call starts an interaction during which you can't start another interaction. If you call a screen and from that screen call another screen, you will get an error. If you need another screen while in a call screen, you can show it and set it to "modal True" (preventing any interaction with s...

Re: Jigsaw Puzzle Help

When you make your composite, the game expects a filename, not a Ren'Py displayable/image. The way you did it, it's looking for a file called 'Rom_puzzle_6x4' in the game's main folder. I just realized that I've been programming in Python for almost 6 years and never really used anything besides int...

Re: Jigsaw Puzzle Help

I just tried it out, for dictionaries [a,b] as index is treated the same as [(a,b)]. I'm surprised that Python (at least in version 3.x) corrects this by itself, actually. There's the error: You didn't make a for-loop with j, only a loop with i. label minigame: image whole = "Rom_puzzle_6x4" python:...

Re: Jigsaw Puzzle Help

I think the problem is in the double indexing in piecelist[i,j]. If you want an index to be comprised of two values, you need to present them as a tuple. This is even possible in Python? I never heard of it. It is possible because it is a dictionary. A dictionary maps "anything" to "anything". So y...

Re: NOOB HELP - When do you actually use a call or show for screen

When you show a screen: - it appears - it stays there until you hide it - the game carries on while the screen is visible When you call a screen: - it appears - it stays there until you use the Return() action or an equivalent way of returning a value - the game script waits until the above happens ...

piecelist[(i,j)]

and the same with the other lists.

Re: Jigsaw Puzzle Help

Well I can only guess that "NameError: name 'j' is not defined" means that you never told the program what j is supposed to be. Without the screen code, it's all guesswork.

Re: Adding items to the inventory issue

I'm sorry, I can tell you are offended by what I wrote. Your problem appeared to me (probably due to lack of information) like you simply copied the code from my cookbook tutorial and didn't adapt it to your variable names, or didn't call necessary functions. The error message that you provided with...

Displayable hiding itself: Possible?

Quick question: Is it possible for a displayable to hide itself after its "on show" animation is finished? I'm thinking of an effect like in RPGs where HP loss plops up and fades. Of course I can just linear the alpha to 0, but that would still show the (invisible) displayable, and those would accum...
