Re: Grocery Store.
So raw and daring. John's internal struggles were nothing short of stifling.

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
Workin' on puzzles a bit. We're still in the early stages so it looks kinda gross, but we're slowly just putting adding functionality before we can even thing about polish. http://www.exitcorners.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/puzzleTemp.png To help make sense of this mess, you should totally check ...

Re: LoL players??
LoL? Legend of Lulz? I get it's a game, but perhaps tell us what LoL stands for first? Makes googling it easier. League of Legends is the first thing that comes up when you Google 'LoL'. At least, it is for me. Anyway, I'm a pretty avid player. You can find LoL players in almost any community; it's...

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
New update! Lots of back-end stuff got done recently, though we did manage to squeeze in a bit of polish for the story portion of the game, including the skip function outlined by AxemRed. There's a new video on the blog of the same few lines of the game if anyone was interested in checking it out. ...

Re: Trapped [KN - 2 in 1][Paranormal/Mystery]
I usually don't go around downloading random games, but this one seemed both interesting and brief (I find shorter games appealing). Now that I've played through it here's a little review from me (it isn't so much a review as a couple bits of feedback): Interesting implementation of multiple endings...

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
Essential: 1. Text log 2. Skip mode What is the standard practice for scene-skipping? I've seen it done a few ways but I'm wondering which is preferred. Should it be "hold a button down so that the text scrolls by super fast until you let go or are presented with a dialogue choice or puzzle" or "br...

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
So... we're making progress! Believe it or not I actually update the blog on occasion. Check out the latest entry here: http://www.exitcorners.com/?p=179 As you can see, the story part of the game technically works, what with correct parsing, scrolling/skipping text, character positioning and backgr...

Re: Sprite Poses
Poses do take a lot of extra time, and I'd never lambaste anyone for only having one pose per character... so long as the character's single poses are appropriate. I remember playing though Ever17 (my only true VN experience) and being driven crazy by the fact that Takeshi ( not really Takeshi ) wou...

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
If the first, that would be interesting, but probably off-putting to a lot of players. If the second, I'm not sure why choices "cannot have any immediate effect on the story". They couldn't take the story off in a completely different direction, but they could well branch and merge back, in additio...

Re: Exit/Corners [Intrigue][Episodic]
I've updated the site with a post on the episodic model we're following. Check it out here: http://www.exitcorners.com/?p=152
Hopefully this post is a bit more interesting than the last. Feedback on anything would still be awesome.

Re: The best release dates
Christmas isn't actually as big a deal as you'd think. Christmas is very important for retailers, but not quite as important for games that are only distributed digitally. Not only that, but if it's a small indie game/VN you're selling, then there's a chance that it'll just get completely overshadow...

Re: VNs slowly gaining Western popularity?
... really? even most quickie games last longer than the average book. Some people don't read as fast as I do though! :) It's just the way in which the the mediums are consumed. I can play a flash game/commercial game demo for five minutes, get hooked on a cool mechanic, have fun with it, and recom...

Re: VNs slowly gaining Western popularity?
In my opinion VN will never be a mass market. But heavily story-based games yes, like Heavy Rain which I just finished playing on PS3 (awesome, despite a few really boring starting scenes). Most people don't like to read, but if you give them an experience which seems like a movie with voices, anim...
