Re: Selling out (theoretical discussion only)

A contest sounds really cool, and, if you just straight-up wanted more freeware yuri games, would probably be the simplest way to go. Everything else sounds kind of convoluted and prone to weird legal issues. My last suggestion would be to make a sacrifice to the yuri gods. They're probably about as...

Writer/editor offering services for short project (Free)

Hello, everyone! I'm currently offering my skills as a writer to anyone who might want it for a short, noncommercial project. I'm willing to write pretty much anything that doesn't involve extreme violence or explicit sexual content, though I prefer slow-paced drama, strong character development, wo...

Re: Basiliska [Fantasy][KN]

Thanks for your responses everyone! We really appreciate your feedback; I'm really happy people are enjoying the VN. :) Beeeeeeeeeautiful game. The art is perfect . AND THE GUI = AHHHHH~<3 So stunning. And when the return button transformed into the finger and I was like - okay, I'll stop geeking ou...

Re: Shoko: VN Composer (FREE)

For free? Wow, dang, I'll have to hit you up sometime. Hopefully you won't be booked a couple months from now when I'll actually have a better idea of what to ask for; I just started a new project and it'd be great if I could get a custom soundtrack for it.

Re: Difficulties with titles and Characters...

I can't say anything about titles because I'm horrible at coming up with them, but when it comes to characters, the best advice I have is to spend time coming up with them. Don't slapdash a bunch of adjectives together and call it a "character"; give the character an actual past and develop their pe...

Re: Basiliska [Fantasy][KN]

Edited the first post with Dropbox mirrors since my antivirus was complaining about malware in the download links. :/ I'll put the original links back up once they've been fixed. OH WOW, this is a pleasant surprise. Definitely gonna play this. Yeah!! So happy this got released, thought it was dead. ...

Re: Looking for feedback on storylines

I'd be willing to give it a shot, though I would need a better idea of what to look for in terms of feedback. (Maybe a list of questions or something?)

Re: Basiliska [Fantasy/Drama][KN]

It's not dead! Sorry for kind of fizzing out over the summer--I had a few people read an early version of the VN, and made extensive edits according to their feedback--but rest assured I'm still working on this project. I updated the first post a bit, and will hopefully have more progress to report ...

Re: Getting sick of Japanese names

Basically, you shouldn't stop making games because your writing is not as good, team up with someone who can't draw and make it happen. Art is equally as valuable to someone who is bad at it and it doesn't mean you have to give up all your creative control over the story. Yeah, I think you hit the ...

Re: Writing vs. Drawing

Drawing all the way. It's nice to be able to to draw, because everyone wants to know what their characters look like when they're out of your head and staring you in the face, but it's incredibly time-consuming for a perfectionist like me who won't stop working on something until they're satisfied w...

Re: Basiliska [Fantasy/Drama][KN]

@Jod: Thanks for your interest! There are at least a few pieces of color concept art that are definitely making it into the extras; I'm not sure about the sketchy stuff, though. @Hazel-Bun: Ah, I'm glad you like it. There's no ~romance~ or anything like that, but there's still quite a bit going on. ...

Re: How to start your game narrative

While I don't think this video applies completely to visual novels--the narrative is 99% of the time at the core of whole thing--it does have a really good point: if you're going to include mechanics other than a CYOA element in your VN, 1) it has to be fun, and 2) it has to make sense . If you want...
