Basiliska [Fantasy/Drama][KN]

General Cecily, the owner of a magic shop on the outskirts of town, has a problem. Her old friends from the Magic Council are asking her to return to the mainland capital, and Cecily wants nothing to do with them. Luckily, one of her client's apprentices and the local sorcerer general might have ju...

Re: More than Forever: A Tragic Love Story [KN]

Ah, yes, a timeless story about star-crossed love... As Taffy suggests, it is possible to enjoy bad literature without falling into the trap of, well, tragically imitating it, and I like that she admitted that there's nothing wrong with having guilty pleasures. :) That being said, this is obviously...

Re: Taking writing requests

Here's your request! Melissa was seven. Naturally, she would gravitate to the children's section of the library, where the shelves were at her height and all the books were actually readable. When she had cracked open her parents' books at home, she would barely make it through a sentence before giv...

Taking writing requests

I need a break from writing my visual novel, so I'm taking writing requests! I will certainly write you something if you ask, but I make no guarantees on how much I'll twist your prompt, heh... Here's a sample to give you an idea of how I write: You know, when your parents get that far-off look of n...

Re: Witch Apprentice (Oct 31st update: Demo up on page 3)

Alright, we've decided that it'd be best for me to withdraw as writer. I apologize for the delays up until now. IRL stuff has caused some trouble for me as of late, and as such, I've got to accept responsibility for that. I'm sorry for letting you all down this time. That being said, Razz is an ama...

Re: Artist available for short project

Ah, rather than just a number, I meant more of a range; "small" could mean different things to different people.

I think I understand what you're getting at, though: you're more concerned about the content than the workload. Which is great! I hope you find someone you can work with.

Re: Artist available for short project

Woah, good luck with picking a project. I'm sure you'll be receiving quite a few offers, especially since you're offering to work for free! I'm not interested, but for those who are, could you maybe give an estimate of how many assets you're willing to draw? Like, "3 sprites with 5 expressions each,...

Re: WIP/Idea threads: What turns you on/off

Let's see... I'm partial toward: BxB/GxG/transgender characters/basically just people who aren't ramrod straight. Good writing, especially good dialogue. If the characters don't speak convincingly, that's an instant turn-off. Intelligent characters who don't do stupid things for the sake of the plot...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

Well, the sun's finally out where I live. (Sort of. There are still lots of clouds.) I don't live in Manhattan or anywhere near the water so we didn't get flooded, and the damage is minimal, but there's no telling when classes are going to start again because the MTA is just so screwed-up. So basica...

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...

I am sitting here, listening to the rain. Waiting for FrankenSandy to screw up my week. Me too. :( I live in New York City, which should explain just about everything. (Thankfully not by the water, but the wind here is supposed to get pretty bad tonight.) Can't wait until tomorrow morning, when the...

Re: [Idea Thingy] A 'book' together

I think everyone could learn a lot from comics that we aren't at the moment. They have a lot of similar elements to VNs when it comes to mixing visual and written story telling, VNs just have the added ability to be interactive and have music and sound. That's the other thing with VNs; not only are...

Re: [Idea Thingy] A 'book' together

I feel like art is often a bit of an after thought, or an addition to the script, rather than an important part of the planning process. Maybe planning out VNs more like movies or comics, where sequences and scenes are visualised and written at the same time might be useful in creating a more 'seam...

Re: GLBT writing tips/resources

I definitely agree with this. I have to say one of the biggest flaws I see when people start writing about GLBT issues is that they only make them about GLBT issues, and conveniently forget that there's supposed to be a story in there somewhere. :) Although, I suppose that's a common thing with any...

Re: Art Dumpage! Show your art ^^

The edit looks good! The nose on the other one looks a little too.... I'm not sure if there's a specific word for it but it reminds me of the live action version of the whos from The Grinch who Stole Christmas. Upturned? I think that's the word. Thank you! I was thinking the face looked a little sq...
