Re: Has OELVN development peaked?
I have a different perspective to offer on this subject. I've been a part of a community that while I was there grew, became somewhat popular and then faded into complete obscurity and died. The whole community was based around one site where everyone uploaded their works to an easily searchable dat...

Re: What you enjoy from VN?
I last tried to read them around 20 years ago, so my memory may be foggy, but every one I picked up stopped being fun very quickly because I kept dying and I had no indication from the story why that was the wrong choice. I kept meaning to write one that had clearer cause and effect, but I never got...

Re: Modular Backgrounds (CC BY-NC 3.0)
Nature stuff is just a lot easier for me. I'm still learning Sketchup and building stuff for my own VN project. When I'm further along with this I would like to add some outdoor views of buildings. The only way I can think of to have a modular indoors would be to have a square room with a set perspe...

Re: Art portfolio?
Just something to keep in mind, make sure you are in the degree you want. I went to school for graphic design as well, and it turned out to not be for me. I wasn't very good at it, and I like to do more drawing than I ended up doing in school and the few graphic art jobs I've done. I wish I had take...

Re: What you enjoy from VN?
I love having more than one ending that's positive. That's what bothered me about the choose your own adventure books, most of the endings in the books were bad endings, and I was always disillusioned with the whole concept of the story before I got to an ending that wasn't. In VN's it really does f...

Funny that it looks like the way the moon looks in Sailor Moon. The only reference I used was a real picture of the moon. Thank you for commenting, although I'm liking the results, I definitely feel every bit the beginner. I need the positive feedback!
Re: Guestbook
Oh wow, I'm in Colorado too. Smoke's been a problem, but there's no real danger from fires here either. We had a guy staying here while he was evacuated from his house, but he was able to go back to his apartment a few hours ago.

Re: Rapid Development and its Effects on Creative Work
I'm the same way with everything I've ever finished. When it's released I have to fake being proud of it and shut my mouth on what I really want to say, which is usually trying to convince people who like it that they're wrong and they'd dislike it too if they'd only noticed all my mistakes. I like ...

Re: Rapid Development and its Effects on Creative Work
I'm with the finish something people. Something that might help is to make it small and simple, get it to the point where it can be finished, and then revising an polishing it from there. Then when you're bored with it and want to move on, you still have something that can be published even if you d...

Re: Ideas Dump
Persistent data would be a bad idea for this game, I think. Things ceasing to exist would have to only be in one playthrough. My thought was that the MC would have set most of life up so that there were as few choices made themselves as possible. They don't choose what they eat for breakfast, becaus...

Re: Otome GxB School Romance looking for Writer
The art looks really great! It seems a bit odd to only be looking for a writer, will you be doing everything else like programming, backgrounds and gui? It also looks like you've got some idea of how the story is going to go, how much freedom would a writer have in this project?

Re: Ideas Dump
MC is cursed that whenever s/he chooses something, the other option stops existing. So at the end of the game when the MC chooses someone the other love interests would disappear and only the MC would remember them. The best ending would be the alone ending.

Re: Get that thing off your chest... Now...
Do some research on OCD, that should help you figure out how much it's affecting you. I'm undiagnosed mild OCD, and I just keep it in mind and back off when I'm overdoing something. For example, I would love to run the dishwasher multiple times and rinse it by hand, but I know that's unreasonable. S...

@ Ionait: I'm really glad you have a move out date. I've known enough people like this to know that unless they don't have any safety net, they won't straighten up. He probably actually does appreciate you, but has no desire to get better. This guy sounds like a really bad influence on your kids. No...

Re: Programs needed to make a game.
I've been using Celtix with the comic formatting for writing. I do comic scripts for Screnzy every year, so it's a style I'm used to, and I like how it keeps track of my characters for me.
