Re: Simulating "real" feelings and moods in gal-games

But since yours truly can only work with renpy, writing a script that feels like the character has different moods, rather than actually running program parameters to simulate them is the only way i can achieve this. Not necessarily. Renpy simplifies VN design, but it is a programming language afte...

boring

I 'played' till the point displayed by the image in the 1st post 1st row, right hand. The interview with the girl. If you guys put so much effort into a good looking VN, why not caring about a unique plot with unique characters for a change? Until here the 'story' is pretty banal. Even mocking itsel...

Re: Simulating "real" feelings and moods in gal-games

As far as "simulated personality" goes, the interactive fiction author Emily Short has written a few (text-only) games exploring conversation and mood modeling: Text-adventures. That's how I got motivated into making my own game back in the 80's. Infocom Text-Adventures were considered to having th...

Of course there are also many typos that are totally my own fault and that haven't been corrected. We are working on fixing it. Definitiv! ~q: we have no proofreaders or beta testers for the German version at all. [How do you get the scripts for the translation?] In welcher Form bekommt ihr die Skr...

Re: Should you be allowed to Rollback after decisions?

Force them to save repeatedly Now it would be really interesting to see a statistic with a high(!) number (like some 10 to 100 thousands of ppl asked) on how many of them decided to stop playing games that forcefully and 'intentionally' annoyed them, and how many felt 'masochistic' enough to contin...

Re: Simulating "real" feelings and moods in gal-games

[EDIT] Three answers: #0 Did you play "Facade"? http://www.interactivestory.net/ Back 4 years ago it was a huge 1GB package for Windows because all the voice samples were in WAV. This project is a bout an interactive stage play. It doesn't simply reveal how it works. I comnsider such approaches as r...

Re: Should you be allowed to Rollback after decisions?

And then it's called 'game' for a reason. The writer of an VN who disables rollback might assume that their game/story is 'so good' that rolling back would ultimately ruin the immersion?! What do I ~play~ a ~game~ for then? Often enough so-called 'choices' lead into dead-ends. Even 'professional' Ad...

Re: So that's why high school is so popular in VNs?

I am still curious: Do the Japanese have sth like a rough statistic of which Genre put how many manga of their kind on market? My Japanese isn't good enough so I rely on 'scanlations'. I myself once helped with a 'scanlation' about ice skating O_o Just looking at such numbers wouldn't be too indicat...

Re: Expanding the Community (was: Unique Opportunity)

Another thing to consider is - unless you write a "kinetic novel", where you can sequentially write your "X number of words per day": A multi-path story that aims at giving the player feed-back of his choices, means non-linear writing. You become a game-designer and semi-programmer with "IF-THEN-ELS...

Re: So that's why high school is so popular in VNs?

Your post comes out sounding slightly predjudiced against the Japanese, although that might be a matter of linguistic nuance. Well, if I extensively search anime databases which claim to hold a couple of thousands of shows. And There isn't even a "seinen", "jousei", or "no school" filter. Or if I m...

Re: Expanding the Community (was: Unique Opportunity)

I don't feel other artists need to be 'proselytized' into the VN world, and it's not necessarily "pornography" in itself that's 'bad', but how it is presented. Admittedly it is considerably difficult to create a serious plot/game based on sexual activity, like having martial arts, or any other fight...

6.11.1b I defined channels with the "loop" feature set to false renpy.music.register_channel("sfx1","sfx",False) However if (on rare occasions) I do need to loop a sound on the sfx channel I simply add "loop" to the play statement. play sfx1 sfx_wecker loop (as shown in the documentation) Now, when ...

"That time of junior high and high school is, in particular, a transitional period," Yoshida continues. "There are people who feel they've lost something, who feel that they didn't want to grow up, or didn't think they'd end up like they have," he adds. "The fantasy of returning to the days of thei...

in truth [they] aren't really interested in what they do, to put it bluntly - they aren't treating what they do seriously. Even if it is only a hobby you do in a spare time, you have to treat it seriously I believe especially because it ~is~ a hobby for me, I can put more passion (which is what shi...
