[SOLVED] Removing unreachable <Some Object>... on game exit
While testing some portions of a game I am working on, one of our team members noticed a "odd" line in the console when config.debug is set: Removing unreachable: <renpy.python.RevertableObject object at [...]> Where [...] is some memory address. I was curious as to what exactly this means and if th...

Re: Does Ren'Py support Live 2D?
Not sure if anyone's interested, but WifeWithAKnife and I translated some of the main menus, buttons etc. Images can be found at http://imgur.com/a/FIQCe You'll need to view full size to read them, especially the 6th image. The quality of editing is low, but as far as I know this is the only transl...

Re: NanoReno - 2013
We are working on putting something out for NaNoRenO (finally, right?). We are going to be doing an adaptation of the short story, "The Tell-Tale Heart" by Edgar Allen Poe. At this point, we pretty much have a full story outline already completed and a development timeline. We are planning to have s...

Re: How Do You Keep Track of Tasks During Game Development?
I actually use something a bit different than most, it seems.
I use a multi-user online bulletin board site called Trello. It has been quite fantastic so far, allowing us to group related tasks, maintain todo lists on every task, and assign people to tasks, as well as set due dates and such.

Re: [HELP PLEASE!] Change character image mid-sentence?
You can always try... show girl_happy boy "You look nice today... show girl_mad with dissolve extend "but you smell awful." This works but the text box disappears when the sprite changes. To stop that from happening, just remove the "dissolve" from the end of show girl_mad with dissolve at it shoul...

Re: [HELP PLEASE!] Change character image mid-sentence?
To change to sprites (as well as show two sprites) at the same time, just use something like this:
I just tested this and it seems to work fine. Now for changing them mid-sentence, I have no idea.
Code: Select all
show sylvie normal at right
show sylvie2 normal at left
with dissolve

Re: Debating Java [split]
That's all fine and dandy for people who know how to write readable code, but for beginners this can be a hard thing to learn. FIOC helps students learn how to properly use indentation, in general. At least in the academic context in which I have seen Python used, it seems to have helped students be...

Re: Debating Java [split]
It forces strict indentations rules, unlike a lot of other languages. So it is more visually structured and is very readable.AxemRed wrote:In what way is Python more structured than any other programming language?

Re: Debating Java [split]
The great thing about Python is the way it's so clearly structured. You can imrove your understanding of Python by simply looking at a piece of Python code and what it does. Yes! Something that gives Python a clear advantage over its peers (e.g. Perl) is how readable Python code is. While I am a C ...

Re: Debating Java [split]
Yes, you have to worry about less in Python than in Java. So you learn not to worry about things, which is not so good. Algorithms should come after one learned to program, because first you have to get one simple thing into the student's head: The computer does EXACTLY what you tell him to do. Tha...

Re: Debating Java [split]
I'm not sure if you called my professor's opinion idiotic or the way the introduction course is held. Both is arrogant. Also, the "strong typing = good thing" did not refer to the introduction course, if you thought that. However, weak typing DOES support making mistakes. And if you get to teach pe...

Re: Your thoughts on a "No Major Choices" option.
If you're really worried about that, why not allow the player a choice at the beginning of the entire game to play a KN instead of a VN? That way they'll get your true ending and then they can play the game all over again with the ability to make choices instead of just receive. I feel that might h...
